Cayman Island Brewery

YES! We loved it. It's a cute local brewery, and they have very good beer and the people are super nice. We brought back a couple 6 pack each to the boat and we are slowly enjoying them at home. (some of their beers are also sold at the duty free store just outside the port). We hailed a taxi at the port, it cost us about $30 to get there. Tell the dispatcher you want the direct route, not the island tour. We got the long route island tour there which wasn't bad, but really not worth the $10 extra for a tour of houses being built and the "rich people live in that house" comments. The brewery will call you a cab to get back to the boat. That one cost us $20 because he took the short route. There is also local buses that cost less than $10 but the taxi was just easier for us. See my pictures in the craft beer drinker unit thread. They have the wrist band that gives you 5 samples (full size) and a token where you pick one of their charities and they donate money on your behalf. When you are ready they take you on the tour. I know they were planning on expanding, but I don't know if they have done any work since we were there in April.

Also, you can communicate with the brewery through their page on FB. I have chatted back and forth with them numerous times and they will assist you with which local bus routes to take if you want to be adventurous. We are already planning on going back next cruise.

Let me know if you go and how you like it.

I also understand there is a distillery nearby. I think next trip I will find out more information so we can plan to go on the following cruise (we like the western route and have 3 trips planned)

Bonnie - Thanks for the details. I'll let you how it goes, we'll be there in 2 weeks!

@Rake 08 Did you go? I was there on Tuesday. We were on the Fantasy and just got home today. We went there about 12:30 and spent a couple hours, there were about half a dozen people in the tasting room. They told us there was over 100 people there in the morning because Carnival did an excursion there. We brought a few six packs home with us, and since we have replenished our supply we can now drink the last few cans in our fridge from our last trip in May.

Bonnie we didn't make it out there, lost track of time. Was able to stock up at liquor store and enjoyed their beers for the rest of the cruise. The Mango was terrific!

That was us a few cruises ago that's why we go there first now. They are expanding big time. We go to try their new light beer Freestyle and it was REALLY good. It has flavor! But I'm glad you were able to pick some up at Duty Free.

The Mango Tango and Citus Twist are my 2 favorites. I go 2 6 packs of the Mango. We brought home more beer than we took on. We also picked up 12 bottles of Mexican Craft beers and other beers you can't find in the US at Mega when we were in Cozumel. Now we can finish drinking the beers we picked up during our last cruise in May.

I hope you get to visit there on your next trip.
