I have a new Cavalier King Charles Spaniel puppy! If I can figure out how to post I will put a picture on here but for now I'll just say he is just too cute.

I'm a little concerned about how much he snores when he sleeps though. The snoring doesn't bug me, in fact it's just too darn cute, but I don't want to make a mistake and assume it's nothing but his cuteness bubbling over. He does have a shortish snout and someone told me this is why he snores so loudly but I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask people here in case anyone has experience with them. At the moment I am set to bring him to the Vet on Tuesday so if there is anything that's going to show up he'll have time for it to blossom, but now I'm wondering if maybe it's something else. He doesn't huff or anything when he's awake. Is this normal for this breed? He's 4 months old if it matters.

I have CKCS and he snores like a grown man! I've heard from many owners of this breed that it's a common thing. They don't tend to have real breathing problems because even though their snouts are on the short side, they're not flat like Pugs. I've had mine since he was 8 weeks old; he's almost 3 now and he's as healthy as can be, even with the snoring! Ask the vet about it so you'll feel better, but in my experience it's really nothing at all to be concerned about. And congratulations! CKCS are such a beautiful, sweet breed. Your pup will follow you around like he's a child, it's so cute.

We have two; one snores and one doesn't. The snorer is a Blenheim and the non-snorer is a Ruby, but I'm not sure if that makes a difference. Ours are not particularly pug nosed like some Cavaliers.

By the way, check out cavaliertalk.com

It's where I get most of my information. The people on that forum are experts with the breed! And there are tons of photos!

Thanks for that link, I'm looking to adopt one next year when DH retires!

CKCS owner here, our little guy is 3 & snores almost as loud as my dh and that is quite an accomplishment :lmao:

We cannot say enough good things about how much I love our Cav!!

Short snoots = greater snoring.

You should see some poor dogs like pugs who wheeze and snort, all because people decided they should have shorter snouts. Poor babies. I think he'll be just fine. Can't wait to see him!!!

I am so glad I took a break from being a puppy hog to check this thread before bed because I feel so much better now, you guys are great:goodvibes

I am going to try and download the new photos and move one to here tomorrow, if you don't see them it's not because I don't want to share, it's because my inner spaz has made a cameo appearance;)

My granddog (Max, short for Maxwell) is a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. He is so adorable! I don't notice the snoring but if he's out in the cold or runs awhile he kind of wheezes. Does anyone know if this is normal for that breed?

Here is my Max:

Post a picture as soon as you figure out how to do it! :)
