Caution re free valet parking !

Hi,
We stayed for 5 nights at VWL in June. Nothing charged on bill halfway through the stay. Then, the day of checkout, I received the final bill and was surprised to see the $10.00 charges on my bill for each day. The charges were easily removed, but I'm not sure why this happened. Each time I dropped off the car I had to show my DVC card.

see my thoughts about this in My Recent Trip thread. I do think the guys going to out to the cars truly do not care if the charge you, in hopes you don't notice it.
For as long as this has been going on, I think this is the only explanation that makes sense for me anyway. And I find it hard to believe that Disney isn't aware of it, which means they really don't feel it's that important of an issue to correct.

There are different color ticket envelopes for the paying guests and if the attendant does not put your name on a DVC one you will be charged. They are suppose to ask but they don't, so DVC members be sure to let them know when you drive up you are DVC and make sure at the valet desk they are aware of it.

I got a few inappropriate remarks about being DVC and it being free so I will be contacting Disney and DVC over it.

Sammie, do you know what the color of the envelopes are for DVC?

It's interesting, but we had the opposite experience during our recent trip. We stayed at BCV and used the free valet there -- which was very responsive and professional, BTW.

One night, we went to California Grill for dinner. Since the Contemporary is not a DVC resort (yet), I expected to pay for valeting the car. However, the valet dude saw my BCV parking pass and asked if they gave me a "card" for free parking at the Contemporary. I said no, and he said he'd take care of it. I don't know what he did, but we were not charged.

Jim:

If you pay once for Valet Parking at any Disney resort, you can ask for and recieve a small card (our last one was blue) that proves you have paid, and can get free valet parking for the rest of that day.

Also, we had lunch or tea or something once at the GF early in the day, and were allowed 2 or 3 hours free parking, went to valet, and they gave us the blue card which we used for dinner later that night, also not at a DVC resort.

Hope that Helps!

This could change, but each time we used it at a DVC resort they were blue as was the claim ticket. The day I paid at the Grand Floridian they were white and for guests using it and staying there, they were dark yellow.
