I have three cats a calilco queen who is about 2 years old. Also a tuxedo tom cat and black queen both 12 years old. The younger one wants to play with the others and they don't want to would you get a fourth cat to keep the younger one company. I work 8 hour shifts but that looks like it is going to change to 12 hour shifts.

I would.

If I say: one can never have too many cats, that reflects poorly on me.

But...yeah. What's one more? Assuming you have the space.

Are the 12 year olds annoyed with the 2 year old? We're still trying to decide if adding a kitten last year was the best thing ever for our then 14 year old cat, or the worst. He chases her sometimes and it sounds like world war 3. I thought about adding another young one for the now 1 year old kitten, but I worry that our now 15 year old would just end up being chased by 2 cats instead of one.

I would stick with the 3 cats... the 2yr old will slow down in time, and adjust. Also the 12yr olds are no longer young and probably like laying around. More cars mean more poop and pee in the litter...

Do you think the young one just wants to torment the older ones like a toddler with an older sibling? And getting a new cat does not guarantee that the new cats personality will fit with the two year old. So it may be 3 cats to one.

NEVER!! I does NOT reflect poorly on you :):):) The more the merrier!! Cats are like Pokemon....gotta collect them all :rotfl2:

The younger one teases my older queen, Missy is the youngster Tippy is the older one. Trouble is when Missy and Tippy start annoying each other it ends the same way they both bully socks my big boy. Socks is big soppy wuss of a cat bigger than the others but they bully him. He had a good friend in my rough collie but I am changing to 12 hour shifts so can't have another dog. By the way when I mean bully last time they sat on the lid of a litter box each and wouldn't let the boy go to the box.

My solution is to have more than one box. May be a pain but it will help. I have multiple cats and at one point one of the cats (lady) was doing he same thing to my skittish cat (Cali). Placed a second box in a different location and Cali was happier. Now lady is gone so I don't need multiple boxes.

Really does it just come down to wanting another cat :) ? I can tell you pros and cons of 4 versus 3
