Cats shedding like crazy

My cats are losing hair left and right because of the warm weather. Can anyone recommend a good brush for them. Something that really works. The brush I have now is useless.

I was thinking about taking to have them shaved for the summer but last time I did that to one of my cats it grew back in funky patches and some didn't grow back at all. I found out later my cat had cancer so I'm not sure if that was the reason or not.

There have been several threads about the Furminator. There is another brand called the Furbuster that is pretty much the same thing.

Go out and get one today. We use one on our cats. This comb works wonders . One friend said the same thing about using it on his dog .

YES! I agree. DF and I use the FurBuster on our cats, and it makes the shedding SO much less noticable. I got it at Target, it was $12-13, I think. They actually make them for dogs, too - my parents use it on their border collie/blue heeler mix (THICK white hair) and love it.

So does it matter if I get the one for a cat or a dog? If the furbuster works as good as the furminator than I'll try that one. The price for the furminator is .

I use a furnimator on both my cats, I have had it for over 2 years now and wouldn't use anything else. 5 friends at work have borrowed it over the past week and have now all ordered one. They found them cheaper than in shops on Amazon.

I don't think it would matter... but the dog ones are a little bigger and also more expensive. My parents got the one for big dogs (Charlie weighs like 90lbs ) and I think it was around $30.

So I headed over to Target to see if they had the Furbuster. They did....on clearance! I paid $6.74. Started brushing Mater down and the amount of fur is insane already! Maybe I'll post a pic after. LOL

Yes! I was just coming to post the links to the FURminator threads.

Make sure you look at the YouTube videos showing people using the FURminator. So much hair comes off, it looks like people are shearing sheep! (Except, of course there still is hair left on their pets. )

I got the medium size for my cat, so I wouldn't have to take so many swipes over her as I would if I had gotten a small brush. I have used it on her for two shedding seasons, and there are no more dust bunnies or hairball problems!

Cool . I was going to mention that I had seen the Furbusters on clearance at Target a few weeks ago, but I didn't figure they'd still have any at this point. In fact I almost bought some of them at the time just to use in the future or to give to friends.
