Their clothes are very inexpensive....anyone know how long they will last?

My mom & I buy lots of our clothes there. I've been buying from there the past 6 years. My mom has gone for almost 5yrs after I took her shopping with me there. They are very inexpensive and lots of items to choose from. Especially if they are on sale.:thumbsup2 They also have a lay-way plan available.

I love cato. The clothes I've bought have held up very well. I was in there the other day, they have some really cute things out right now. HTH

I've had really good luck with the quality of their clothing. But I do have to say that many items are "trendy", so if that is a concern, they may not be something that you will wear 2 years from now . . . but the price is certainly right . . .

I totally disagree, I have a few piece from Catos and they knotted up/faded/unraveled. I have a front load machine that is gentle on clothes and I rarely dry my work clothes.

I LOVE CATO!! I have been buying their clothes for over 10 years and can count on one hand the number of items I have had problems with. Their sizes do vary though, especially in jeans and capris. I might wear a 6 in one pair and an 8 in another, so I always have to try their pants on.

Like the previous poster said, when they start marking their items down (like they are doing their summer clothes right now), you can't beat their prices. :thumbsup2

I like the style, but the quality is so-so. I have issues with too-large neck opening that slide off my shoulders, so I try everything on. Cotton stuff piles pretty quickly. The bras & undies are cute, but do not fit well. I like the jeans & capris, they fit comfy.

I think you have to be careful everywhere these days, not just the discount places. If the fabric has a high rayon content, it usually is not going to stand up to much machine washing. If the cotton feels thin, it probably is not too durable. Look at seams, edging etc. Most of the times things like pants or jeans hold up well from anywhere, the dresses or blouses are more iffy. The thing I am the most disgusted with are the higher priced places like Delia's or Limited Too where their stuff starts pilling or fading after just a couple of washes, and these are places where the regular retail (which I seldom pay) is 2X that of Catos. I usually get much more wear (for the kids here) out of the stuff from JC Penneys, or even Target than any of the above. I don't want to blame the retailer so much as our society, where everything is disposable these days, and I don't think people are demanding or expecting quality because they are so used to going and buying some more because they grow tired of it before it wears out.

I've found that most things wear out, tear, fade, get holes quickly but I do have a pair of khaki shorts that have held up well. My mom use to buy lots of clothes there but she carried everything to the cleaners.
