I was wondering two things. Can you get a catholic priest to marry you? and has anyone ever had their puppy involved in the wedding? I know it sounds silly but we have had our puppy for a about 3 month and he is our baby, I'd love to have him there plus I don't know where he could go if our whole family was there.

As far as I know, Catholic priests will only preform a wedding in a Catholic church.

As for the puppy, Disney doesn't allow pets at the hotels, period, so I doubt it. Sorry!

A catholic priest will ONLY perform marriage ceremonies in a church. There have been some instances of exceptions, (one of the Kennedy kids got married on a boat for example) but the hard and fast rule is only in a church. DH and had a lot of headaches over this issue!

FYI, I've spoken with a catholic priest in the Orlando area that has spoken with his superiors and they have no problem blessing our marriage and performing the eucharist. My father is a judge--so I wanted him to do the ceremony. My FH is catholic and was fine with my dad doing the ceremony as long as it was recognized by the church. I contacted this Father and he said they will treat it as an interfaith marriage (which it is) and there is no problem. As soon as we pick a date we are going to finalize having him at our ceremony to do the blessing and the eucharist. If anyone is interested in obtaining his information, please PM me.

I begged and begged our sales manager Heidi and even had it all planned out in my head . . .

Right before the ceremony, we would hire a CM to pick them up from the kennel and take them to the pavillion. During the ceremony when the rings are called for the doors would open and our 2 puppies would run in. They would then be taken by a CM after the rings are taken off them and taken directly back to the kennel.

And the answer was still a big fat NO :sad1: Here is a pic of them!!

AWWW!!! Your babies are so cute. I wanted our doggie to be in our wedding too. I'm going to keep the little doggie ring bearer pillow, and hopefully use it when we renew our vows in about 10 years.

DH and I are both Catholic and had a ceremony at WDW and then had a blessing at home. We contacted our church well in advance and had Father's support of our plan. We did all of the diocese requirements and the ceremony was the weekend after we got home from our honeymoon.

Im catholic but my husband isn't, my family is Italian so it was always get married in the catholic church, and my mom, grandmother whole family gave me run around for a year and a half about wanting to get married in Disney, and then we did and not another word... Except from my aunt who had to come out and say that HER daughters would of course be married in the catholic church... Don't let not being married by a catholic priest stop you from having a Disney wedding, dont let anyone ever try to talk you out of it because it is 100% worth it.

Even the catholic church where I lived didn't want much to do with it, they said call me when I got back... and when we got back I had to wait a year (I have no idea what was up with that!), but I did and two years ago we had it blessed (married in disney Jan 26, 2002!).

As far as the dog, my wedding planner practically bent over backwards to help us, it was wonderful, and all I can say is do want you want, because you will remember it for the rest of your life.

:) Congratuations!

Jennifer

I know the official word about dogs is NO....BUT, my aunt was at a wedding at the Polynesian in the fall and there was a dog "in" the wedding!! I kid you not!!! I have NO IDEA how it was allowed to happened, but my aunt saw it with her own eyes.

My Finance and I are both Catholic (we were engaged on October 24, 2004), and immediately decided to have a Disney wedding until we found out the restrictions of the diocese of Orlando. Unfortunately they will not recognize any marriages performed on Disney property and will generally not even allow you to marry in a Catholic church in Orlando unless one of the parties has been a parishioner there for at least three months prior to the wedding. We thought a Disney wedding would be ideal as every year my family goes there following the Christmas holidays and so if we had it in early January everyone would already have planned for that time off, etc, etc. Well, we decided that we would just have the wedding in my hometown of Nashville, TN until last week when I heard back (again) from the diocese of Orlando. One of the women there finally got St James Cathedral in Orlando to agree to marry us in the Cathedral so long as we completed all our marriage preparations in our home Parish. So, we are now planning on having the wedding at the Cathedral and then the reception at Disney World. Has anyone heard of a ceremony taking place at the wedding pavillion between two Catholics? That still would be ideal, but I will take what I can get.

That being said, does anybody know anything re: receptions at MGM? I would love to have a cocktail/dessert recption at the NY City street scene and then a dinner at Brown Derby. Perhaps I need to contact Disney directly on that, but at this stage it is so difficult getting in touch with them. Any advice/information anyone could be offered would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
