Does anyone know if its ok to host a small event in a grand villa? Has anyone ever done this? If so who did you contact for such an event?

thanks in advance

In June, we hosted a dessert party for 34 in the GV at the Grand Californian. We went through room service. Everything was great...service, desserts!!!! Even more amazing is that it was really a last minute( few days before ) idea.
There was lots of room for all and everyone had a great view of World of Color!

awesome thank you!!! i will assume the same is true for Bay Lake Tower in WDW.

we would have about 30 guests joining us for the evening. When its time i will contact catering.

Sorry, but I feel for the guests under your villa and adjacent to your villa. Your guests will have to be escorted to your villa because they won't be able to get into the building without someone staying there.

Actually someone will have to man the front door and direct the guests to the elevator.

its not a problem with having someone bring the guests up. we will have 12 of the 30 guests staying with us.

And it's not like im having a huge party with pounding music. we are just having family over for food and drinks to watch wishes to celebrate our anniversary.

And im sorry but if people are sound asleep in disney while wishes is going on then they can deal with the sound of people. Sorry if that sounds harsh

Ahh, the thrill of DVC membership.

I don't think the occupancy of your patio/balcony will hold that many people. And you won't be able to bring that many up to the TOTWL.

sorry if i upset anyone on here. I didnt mean to . But i just feel like people dont think this is a good idea.

I am not intending on having 30 people on the balcony. They will be simply relaxing inside the suite for a few hours and listen to wishes music from inside.
I dont intend of stuffing 35 people on a balcony and never said that. plus some will be children in our party.

I also never said i would be brigning them to the TOTW lounge at any point. I would never do that cause that woulde be against rules and rude for other dvc members.

OK thanks again. :goodvibes

I think entertaining in your villa sounds lovely. If you go through Disney catering, I'm sure they would indicate if this isn't allowed or there were too many people there. Have a great night celebrating.

I think it's a great idea and a wonderful use of your GV. Room service at CR should be able to handle your needs and your guests will experience the GV and the total Disney experience.

What a great way to share your DVC membership with friends and family! :teeth:

In June 06 my daughter got married at the Wedding Pavillion and we stayed in a Grand Villa for the week at Boardwalk. The villa balconies are pretty private and none of the guests in the rooms near us were affected by our 40 guests.

I did the catering myself however Disney assisted me in bringing 4 cocktail tables and chairs to the room and set them up in the living area. I think they charged me $100 for the tables/chairs for the week.

We had the welcome party on Sunday evening, bridal shower on Monday afternoon and several other events in the villa throughout the week.

Next week I rented a two bedroom BLT Theme park to celebrate my husband birthday and we have 20 friends joining us for cake and fireworks. They stated that we should have our friends call when they arrive and they would let them in the front door as long as I gave them a guest list prior to the event. There is a buzzer at the door in the event you do not have a key!

Congratulations on your anniversary! Dh and I will be celebrating our 35th in a GV and 2 studios with our adult children. I love the catering idea and would like to know more about it.

We are doing the same thing at the Boardwalk Grand Villa. We are having Disney cater food and drinks into our villa for 25 people. All family and friends. Just a good time to enjoy with family that we have not seen in awhile and friends. ENJOY YOURSELF.... HAVE FUN.... YOUR AT DISNEY...

if the location your at has banquet facilities, then using disney catering to handle a party wouldn't be a problem. Beach, BW, BLT, so they would all have access to the food prep for that and have menus already in place.
At ssr, vwl might have a more limited menu, without banquet facilities.
