I was wondering if anyone could describe the differences in these two categories, other than deck location. I currently have a Category 5 booked, but am wondering if the extra room in the Category 4 would be better. There would be 4 of us, and I will be needing a pack 'n play for my son, he'll be 1 1/2. I can't decide if I'll need this room or not. Any advice, or insight would be appreciated!!!

The extra room would be nice since you'll have the Pak N Play, but you don't really need it. You'd be comfortable in a 5. In fact, I say go with a 6. It's the same as a 5, but on Decks 5 and 6 instead of 7. Save your money for something else (like the spa or excursions).

A Cat4 suite has 304 square feet of space. A Cat5/6 suite has 268 square feet. You can think of a Cat4 as being a Cat5 suite with enough extra length to accommodate a Murphy bed. I would estimate that the Cat4 cabin is only about 4 feet longer (deeper) than the Cat5. If you head over to www.disneycruise.com you might be able to get a better idea of the differences in cabin sizes. The only clear advantage that a Cat4 has over a Cat5 cabin is that you can add a fifth person to some Cat4's.

or cat six. That little bit of extra space i thought we were gaining for a cat four was definetely not worth the extra cost...just my two cents.

when it was just me, dh and ds (3.5 at the time). It was fine for the three of us, but we are planning on cruising this November and we'll be 4 (baby ds will be only 4 months old). Remembering the Cat. 6, there is no way I can imagine putting a pack n' play or portacrib for ds#2 in that cabin. I think we definitely need even the extra 4-5 feet of space for him.

We're booked for a cat. 4 on the 11/30/02 Eastern cruise.

We were in a cat 9, me DH, DS (3 1/2) and baby DS (17 months). We had plenty of room. You can fold the pack and play when your not using it. Also when we went baby DS was in his climbing stage and climbed right of the pack and play. There was no way he was going to sleep in it. We put him in the lower bed and our cabin steward provided us with Graco bedrails so he wouldn't fall out. It was wonderful and worked beautifully. It also was more comfortable than a pack and play....something you may want to think about. The upper bunk had guard rails as well. We just didn't use the ladder, that way DH had to put DS in bed and take him out. We did not want him trying to go up and down that ladder himself.
