We booked a category 12 stateroom for our upcoming (and first!) cruise, simply because this was the only way we could afford a cruise. I'm starting to get nervous however that there is a reason why these rooms are so cheap. What exactly is the difference between a cat 12 and cat 11? Is there a lot of noise / motion in these rooms? Has anyone had a bad (or good) experience in these rooms?

Not that I could change it now, but I want to be prepared. Thanks!

Yes, there is a potential for noise. These staterooms are located underneath the nightclubs.

I have a list of noisy staterooms on Deck 2. Some of the 12's are noiser than others...

Of course, if you're the type that closes down the clubs every night, it won't be a problem!

Cat 12's are on deck 2 and 1 I think...and cat 11 are on upper decks. the size of the rooms is the same I think... Usually the cat 11's are actually cheaper than the 12's because of specials the cruise line runs.

We had a category 10 which was also on deck 2 and was very noisy as it was right under Lumieres.....Andy
