Category 12 GTY upgrades

goofyforlife

We booked a Cat. 11 thru Dreams Unlimited. We requested a 12 due to price but they were able to book us into a Cat. 11 cheaper than a 12. Which category gets a split bath? We're in 7537.

Neither 11 or 12 get the split......

It's not really a big deal unless you have someone who spends a lot of time in bathroom. ( a split bath is a shower and sink on one side / toilet and sink on the other.)

It's weird that 12 was more....usually it's less...

The same thing was told to us when we booked last October for our up coming November cruise. We were told that the cat.11 was cheaper than the 12. I couldn't really understand why that would be but naturally we went with the cat. 11. I am curious to see if anyone has the answer to this.

The only place I have ever gotten the 11 is cheeper than the 12 is in a DU email they sent me when I requested a price quote. As I have never talked to them on the phone I don't know what thier story is. If DCL web and the CM's on the phone give you a price quote for 11 and 12s for the same date the 12s are always cheeper. (they were in my checking into which dates I was looking into) anyway 1 guy at costco told me that they didn't sell 12s also. so I called back talked to someone else and he booked all 4 of us into a 12. I think it is becouse you get upgraded if you are four anyway so they just tell you no and your going to buy an 11 to get to go.

I took my price from DU for a Cat. 11 to my TA. I felt more comfortable using someone I knew but the closest she could come to my Cat. 11 quote from DU was a Cat. 12 at almost $500 higher. She said she didn't know how they could get the price they did. I, of course, went with DU.

We booked a GTY 12 for next week's 7 day. 2 weeks ago, I looked online and saw that we had finally been assigned a cabin and it was a cat 10 cabin on deck 1. So we went down a deck but up two categories. Not a huge upgrade since it's still an inside cabin but more square footage and the split bath.

Hi Folks

I thought I would try to help explain the 'category 11 is cheaper than 12' issue as best I can.

If you get a quote back from Dreams Unlimited Travel and you receive this message it is because DU is holding group space in advance on the sail date you requested. This is done to lock in the best tier pricing and offer a group discount for that sail date.

It is Disney Cruise Line policy that they will only allow a TA to hold group space in advance for categories 4 - 11 staterooms. TA's cannot hold catefories 1, 2, 3 or 12 in advance in group space.

Therefore, what happens is the category 12 staterooms are not eligible for the group space discount and will increase in price as time goes by and the ship begins to fill-up - i.e. as regular tier pricing increases.

A category 11 stateroom held under group space will always be cheaper for a particular TA than the category 12 as the 11 will have the group discount and be locked in at the tier held.

I hope this helps to clear up any confusion.

Yeah! I just checked my ressie and my family has gone from a Cat. 12 gty for a 12/2/04 sailing to a Cat. 8. Our friends that booked at the same time for the same room type have been upgraded as well. I guess between now and December this could still change, but I'll keep hoping the upgrade stays.:bounce:

We sailed right after 9/11 in Jan, I think and were in a cat 6. we were give a certificate to book again the following Sept or Oct for $99 each in the same cat.

We booked the cat 6 but got upgraded to a cat 4 a few days before.

We were stoked, a cat 4 for $99 each. It doesn't get much better than that. ;)

Have never been upgraded since. :(

How do you book a Cat 12? I never see onle listed as a choice on DCL webiste or All Seas.

We went on the Disney website and looked at all of the information. We didn't see a Cat. 12 for 4 people either. So we called the ressie # listed and spoke to a rep. They gave us the Cat. 12 gty for 4 people.

Great news!! Just got an email from DU. Seems that we've been upped to a 9!!!WHEHOOOO!!:Pinkbounc
Not being greedy:confused: just curious. Does anyone know if we can be upgraded more at the port? If we can't get an additional complimentary upgrade at the port, can we pay the diff in a 9 to an 8. Or would we have to pay the regular upgrade from 12 to 8(not that we would). We're happy with what we have, not being greedy:D

I BELIEVE ONCE YOU GET TO THE PORT, IF YOU ARE NOT UPGRADED AGAIN, YOU CAN ASK TO BE UPGRADED, AT A SMALL FEE, IF THE SHIP IS NOT FULL.

HOPE THIS HELPS
