FIRST I WANT TO KNOW WHAT YOU GUYS CAN TELL ME ABOUT THIS INSIDE STATEROOMS. THERE ARE THREE OF US AND I'M HOPING ITS NOT TOO SMALL. HOW ARE THEY? SECONDLY, MY TA KEEPS TELLING ME I'M CATEGORY 11 WITH A GUARANTEE. ANY ONE KNOW WHAT THIS MEANS? EVER HEAR OF IT? PLEASE LET ME KNOW!

We will be staying in our first CAT11 stateroom in December. Our previous cruises have all been CAT5, so I can't help you with 3 people in that category yet --- and there are only 2 of us. But from what I've heard, you will be okay with 3. In CAT11, the biggest difference is that you will have one bathroom instead of the split bathrooms (split means that one bathroom is a toilet and sink and the other is a sink and bathtub/shower). In CAT11, these are all in one. I believe you also have less storage space (clothes storage) in a CAT11.

A Guarantee simply means that a CAT11 is the lowest category you can receive. Your chances of a higher stateroom are increased according to availability. I've heard of many people booking CAT11 guarantee and receiving CAT 9 or 10s (and sometimes better). GOOD LUCK!

A guarantee is a classification they place on a cabin when the ship is near capacity. About a week before the cruise, you will be assigned a stateroom. You are "guarantee"d to at least have a Category 11. This means you MAY get an upgrade to a higher category.
The only time this is not a good thing is if you are travelling with another family and you want to get cabins near each other. Won't happen with a guarantee.

we had 4 people in a cat 11, me DH, DD10 and DS6 and we were fine. You won't be ballroom dancing anywhere in the cabin but it is fine for sleeping and changing, which was all we did in it.

The only part I didn't like about it was that it was REALLY dark when the lights were out, so I would suggest a nightlite.

The cat 11 will be fine with 3 adults...the couch/bed is actually very comfy! We had a cat 11 gty for our upcoming Nov 29th cruise and got upgraded to a cat 8!:D

Actually it's plenty big, as long as you do the right dance. For the tango, it's just about right. For a waltz you will probably run into something pretty quickly but at least you don't have to worry about falling overboard.

We sailed 3 cruises in a Cat. 11 (just this last time had a porthole room for the first time). I wouldn't mind being in a Cat. 11 again. There are 4 of us (DH, me, twin DDs age 10). The room has a very nice lay out. There is a curtain that you can draw between the bed and the rest of the room (which was nice for when the girls were changing clothes).

It is a bit dark, and so it is easy to take naps during the day! But it is also easy to over sleep in the morning.

you don't get the split bath, but then I think it is sort of nice having the whole bathroom together (we seemed to keep leaving our toothpaste in different bathrooms and whenever I wanted it someone else always had it in the other room---next time, 2 travel size toothpastes!).

You won't want to spend much time in your room anyway. The ship is SO lovely. Our favorite place to relax is on deck 4. But the 'secret deck' on level 7 is nice too. But much of our time was spent up on deck 9 while our girls swam in the Mickey pool.

You will have a WONDERFUL trip matter what room you are in. It is the best vacation we ever took!

We put a cruise on hold about 60 days out and got a great deal on the Cat. 11 GTY. When I called back to make the deposit they had already assigned us a Cat. 9 porthole view. we jumped on it!!!Great cruise for the DH and I without the kids. We have also cruised in a Cat. 10 with our 8 year old twins and had no problems. Have a Cat. 11 booked (4day) in March 2004 - hoping for an upgrade but will just be glad to be there and so will the kids since we went without them last time!!! Have a great time! We were never in the room anyway except to dress and sleep!!!

thank you all so much for your help. I'm thinking this room is going to be just fine. But the guarantee business was a little confusing they way the TA was explaining it. Thanks so much::MinnieMo

With the way my husband and I dance, anything is possible!!:teeth: :teeth:

We booked that category and were upgraded to a category 7 navigators veranda...so good luck, yo might get an upgrade.

I hate to be a wet blanket, but the "guarantee" of receiving category 11 or better is nearly worthless. There are only 13 cabins in category 12, so you probably couldn't get one of those even if you wanted it. A category 11 guarantee pretty much boils down to "you're on the boat". The good news is that booking under a "guarantee rate" may have saved you some money.

There is a chance for an upgrade. But as there are 147 cabins in category 11, you should know that most people booking that category are going to stay there.

If you have two adults and a young child, an 11 is fine. With three adults, you may want to consider a category 10. In my book category 10 is the best value, as the room size is the same as categories 5-9, you just don't have a view.

Thanks Erik, when everyone was pumping me up, you shoot me down. ONLY KIDDING. I am traveling with 2 adults and a child, and a will be happy in that room. We do not sit still and I know we'll barely be in the room so it will be fine. Thanks

I think during the slow season, they run specials on category 11 guarantee rooms as a way to fill the ship, and lots of people get upgraded, I know this was the case on our Sept.18th cruise. We booked 2 guaranteed category 11 rooms for my family, and friends we were traveling with booked 2 guaranteed category 11 rooms as well. We knew there was a chance we'd wind up all over the ship, but as it turned out, all 4 rooms were upgraded to category 7 navigators verandas, all next to each other. So Disney did manage to keep our families and friends together, even though someone posted that this would not happen with a guaranteed category 11. In fact, my thinking is it might have even helped us get that great upgrade!
