 Oh I am still in shock! I have been calling Disney cruise line almost everyday to see if we were able to upgrade from a four to a three. We have been waitlisted and I heard just to keep calling. Well we leave this sat on oct 9 magic so I called today to be told nope, no cat 3 but a cat 1 just became available. I have 3 kids ages 5,11,14. It is getting harder by the year to do thing s that we all enjoy. I was worried about driving eachother crazy in a cat4so we decided to bite the bullet and go for it! We may have to dip in to someones college fund but hopefully it will be worth it. Mary

Good for you!
Enjoy the extra space and luxury!
I just hope that someday I will get to stay in this cabin. Let us know how it works out for you.

Awesome, awesome! Congrats!

Mary,
It will definately be worth it. You will love the category 1 suite. It is beyond description and no matter what you have heard about it, you will be pleasantly surprised. The only problem with staying in a category 1 suite is that you will be spoiled forever and will never be happy in any other room.

That hardly ever happens. Congrats. Do you mind if I ask what the price differnce was. We are in a Cat. 3 on Nov. 6th. Enjoy all the perks that Concierge has to offer.

Yes, if you don't mind me asking, what does it cost? We are waiting to hear whether we are getting a Cat. 1 for Oct. 2006, and they won't give me any clues as to cost. Based on quotes on other staterooms and in looking at the brochure, I estimated a little over $10K for 2 adults and 4 kids ages 3-8, but my TA tells me to expect $12K or more. Did they give you the breakdown in the price for the 2 adults and then for the additional passengers? I know 2006 could be more, but this could give me a good idea. If you don't want to announce to the world, please PM me! Thanks!

I cannot tell you the difference because I do not know the cost of the category3 but it was quite a bit more to upgrade obviously from a 4 to a 1. Look on pg. 42 of the passporters fieldguide to disney cruise line fro average rates. I can tell you they did not give us a discount. Mary

It was around 12k with insurance and transfers and no air. It was 7k before the upgrade. I went through DCL and no TA. Mary

Have a BLAST, Mary! I'm soooo jealous! Tell us all about it when you get back.

Happy Sailing!:boat:

::yes:: I am turning disboard green with envy! ::yes:: Enjoy it! And don't forget to take lots of pictures!

Wow, what a fabulous upgrade opportunity. Your kids (and you) are really going to love having all that extra space. Did DCL let you know that you can contact Debbie to make Palo arrangements now? The concierge staff will also assist you when you get on board and if you go down to the meet and greet, you'll be able to take care of all your reservations, excursions and kids clubs sign up all in that one location. You just sit and relax and they'll make the rounds and come to you. You are just going to love the concierge service.

Have a wonderful sailing,
Tammi

What an incredible opportunity! I don't know that I could have turned that down either. :) Hope that you enjoy it to the fullest & can't wait to read your trip report.

no she did not tell me i could call debbie. i did cancel our reas package. I had gotten the palo ressies I wanted but not really the spa times. We want to do palo on our costa maya day. also when they faxed me my new confirmation it still had cc listed for friday! I feel very fortunate to have gotten this upgrade! We are keeping it a surprise for the kids!Mary

WOW. How exciting!

And thank you for being so upfront about the price for a cat 1 -- I've often wondered about that. What an amazing vacation that will be!
