My kitty Ivy has calcium crystals in his urine and the vet told me I now have to feed him Waltham's S/O food. Is this the same thing as a UTI? Anyone else have this problem or use this food? How long did you have to use it and do you know of any cheaper alternatives? They seem to think I'll have to feed this to my cat forever and the other cat too if I can't keep Ivy from eating the other food. I love my furbabies but this food is not cheap - twice what I was paying for the higher grade food the vet had me switch to from Purina cat chow 2 months ago. Ivy is also slightly constipated - better than the last visit (that's why I had to change from cat chow). I don't particularly like this dr, I prefer the other one at the same location but she doesn't have evening hours. I know she is not making Ivy's problems up but I wonder if the food recommendation is partly based on the fact that you have to buy the food from the office.

Thanks for all your help/comments/personal experiences.

We just had this problem with one of our cats a few weeks ago. We had to put her on Science Diet S/D and give her some pink medicine twice a day. Your right the food is not cheap and can only be bought at the Vets. Our Vet. told us it would be only for a month then she can go on some other type of food. The price we pay for having furry faces I guess.
