cat problem Update post 8!

My cat has diarrhea.Only two in 24 hours, but they have a little blood in them. I swiched there food a few weeks ago. Shes running and playing like normal. Shes not lathoric. Im kinda waiting to see if it passes since I think she may just have eaten somthing she shouldnt have. Her last stool had a little bit of blood. Her poop awalys has been soft and stinky but im worried. Any advice? I cant afford to run to the emergency vet or any vet around here. I hope mom says she can come visit her (and go to the cheap vet). Im just really worried and cant call mom at this hour. Im really worried cause this is my baby, Im deepy attached to my girl boo.

In some cases the rectal mucosa will remain everted for a few moments or even much longer, after a bowel movement and looks like a pink ring of tissue around the rectal opening.
this sounds like boo's bottom after a movement.

If you switched her food a few weeks ago it will have nothing to do with it. If this is your older cat, take her to the vet.
BTW it is "Lethargic," not "Lathoric".

Why not start by bringing in a stool sample to the vet? It could be coccidia (usually self limited in younger cats, but will need meds) or worms. In any case, a cat with blood in it's stool, that you are attached to (or even if you aren't) deserves to have this checked out.

Diarrhea can be a serious issue for cats. They can become quickly dehydrated. I adopted a cat last Spring with chronic diarrhea. With stool testing, we determined it was a nasty parasite and he was medicated. He would not have improved without medication. Please don't take your pets illness lightly. Get him to the vet. Vet bills are a necessary part of pet ownership. Most vets offer CareCredit or other payment plan options.

I cant get care credit. She seems alot better today and is eating. No diarrhea today. I made her drink last night and oddly enough, she enjoyed it. Im gonna talk to my ma today and see what she thinks (if shes worried kitty would go to visit ma and the ver)

I'm confused. You have 5 pets (signature) and your mother makes the pet care decisions? Are you a teenager (serious question, not being sarcastic)? Perhaps you can get a part time job in order to get your pets to the vet and checked out? Or your parents can apply for the care credit and you can pay them back with the earnings from a part time job?

A cat with blood in the stool needs to have that checked. You originally said there was blood in the stool, not on it's hiney. It could be any number of things. It could be a lot more expensive down the road, if it's not taken care of now. On the other hand, it could be a simple, inexpensive fix..if seen promptly. I'm not sure why you posted..I don't believe you could have expected anyone to just say don't worry about it.
You said it is drinking..you aren't giving it milk, are you?

I work part time right now and go to college. I make my own pet care decisions but I ask mom for advice. Shes had cats longer than me. Also I ask her because a vet apoinment here is around $75 just to walk in, by mom, its $45. I try to send the cats up there, not to mention, thats the vet I trust. Im just happy the cat is doing better, shes watching "HER" birds right now. guess its time to go feed the birds again.

I don't know what you mean by stinky, but not normal stinky poo, is often a sign of parasites..the stink is often unseen blood that is being smelled. I've been around it enough that I can almost dx either coccidia or parvo (in dogs) by the smell. I still suggest at the least a stool check.

Actully, she had her stool checked about a month ago before and the vet told she was fine and she just was one of those stinky cats. I think she will be going to the vet next saturday since I have to go up to ma's anyways.

Are you going to this same vet? He didn't suggest a food change, or anything else for the extra stinkiness? In any case last month, she didn't have blood in her stool. He might have something else to say this visit. Good luck with the visit.

Some cats are just plain stinky! My friend has a bengal and apparently they all smell bad. It's just part of the breed.
