Up until recently, I have never owned a cat before and I did not realize how much I would hate the whole litter box experience. Dogs (which is all I had ever had) were so much easier - open door, let them out, wait a while, let them back in.

Well, I have discovered the litter robot . I had heard about the littermaid, but saw mostly bad reviews of it on the net - mostly that it didn't last, the rake needed to be cleaned often, etc.

Not so with the litter robot. It is much more expensive than the littermaid, but Oh My! It is wonderful! Since I only have one small cat, I only have to empty the drawer about once a week. It also takes just regular garbage bags instead of some special refill containers.

I highly recommend it. Works like a charm, and all reviews I have seen on the net have been positive.

Just wanted to share!

$329 are you crazy??? I am not wealthy. I guess i won't be getting this one.

My cats would take one look at that circular contraption and RUN AWAY!!!!! They would be scared to death and there is no way they would go in that hole to even find out if it were a litter box!:p

I'm very glad that it is working well for you!

LOL! Thank goodness they have a 30 day trial because I didn't know how our cat would take it either. But his previous litter box had a cover over it, so I guess he figured this was about the same. Also, he is still young, so he is not so set in his ways that he would have a hard time adjusting to change.

What is that??? i think i would run away never mind my cats....that looks scary....

Wow. It looks like that cat in the picture is getting ready to go deap-sea diving! :p

i`m sooo sorry but Aurora`s post had me in stitches there :p :p :p i`m` still chuckling away now:p :p :p

I just checked out "How the Litter-Robot Works". It looks great and I don't like cleaning the litter box BUT $329 for black or $349 for bone is quite STEEP!! I don't know how much the litter maid costs now but when they first came out I believe they cost around $150. I never bought that because I thought it was too expensive and not worth the money. While this looks like a good gadget I can't justify the price. Annmarie

It looks interesting. If I win the lottery anytime soon, I might get one. My cat is funny. He almost always uses his box, but just today, he had one of his weird days and pooped on the floor just in front of it. I hate when he does that, but it's so rare, that I don't get too concerned. Maybe he just can't hold it or something.

I have one too!!! I have posted before about how much I love it. Yes it is expensive, however when I bought it I had 3 cats. I was changing litter (scooping) 2x a day and went through 28lbs of litter a week. Yes A WEEK!! With Litter Robot I only went through that much litter in a month and the time saved by not scooping 2x a day was well worth it. I also like only having to pull a trash bag out of the drawer. No more having litter accidently get on me. The smell is basically gone, too. (Except for when the stinky poo cat goes, but then I just go in and hit the cycle button) The amount of litter kicked around the house is also signifiacantly less. The robot has already paid for itself. ( 8.99 x 52 = 467.48 vs. 8.99 x 12 = 107.88 467.48 - 107.88 = 359.60 ) I know I often looked and bought litter on sale or with coupons, but that is the average price if not a little low.
I have nothing but praises for my unit!! It is especially great for multicat homes. The customer service department is awesome too. They were awesome helping me adjust the unit for our eldest (now deceased) kitty. I just can't say enough good about the unit or the company!!!

Oh, my eldest kitty was 11 when we got and she adjusted very well. The youngest loved to watch it turn at first. She even learned how to set it off and tried to jump in it while it was turning. (Of course it stopped as soon as she stepped on the step) I didn't even do the keep it off at first thing they suggested. I just turned it on and watched their reactions. With Littermaid you have to deal with a loud unit and often clear clogs. You also have to purchase trays to use with it. (The trays add up, trust me grandma used one) This unit is not very loud and requires no special extras. It just uses the small white trash bags. About every 3 months you take the unit outside and rinse it with the hose and soapy water and you are good to go! It is definately one of the better purchases I ever made!!

Great to hear that I'm not the only "crazy" person to purchase this, chager. Yes, it is pricey, but well worth it. With just one cat in the house it seemed I needed to scoop his old box twice a day. I'm glad those days are over!

I didn't turn mine off at first, either. I plugged it in right away and let KoKo get used to it. I also didn't leave his old litter box out...I took it away immediately. So I broke all the rules!

But KoKo took to it right away (I did put a scoop of his old litter in the litter-robot as suggested). It has been working like a charm.
