Yes, I'm probably crazy for wanting to put my cat in a harness and take him out for a walk. Would you believe I can't figure out how it's supposed to go on? Does the whole thing go over his front arms? I would think so but it's difficult when it keeps getting stuck in his mouth or my hand keeps getting stuck in his mouth. Gee, I just don't understand why he doesn't love it.

I gave him treats as I was trying to put it on but I couldn't get his arms through. Maybe if I play with him for 2 straight hours he'll finally be so tired that he won't fight me. Any suggestions?

Yes the arms are supposed to go through. Good luck. My brother tried this years ago with his cat & the cat refused to stand so my brother was really taking him for a drag. :lmao:

If you google a picture of it, you should be able to figure it out. it does go under their front legs, though.

I tried this with one of my cats... he's a siamese and supposedly they're good with harnesses.

It was the funniest thing I've ever seen! He laid down on his belly and started scooting, trying to get the thing off. He wouldn't stand up straight for anything!

Needless to say, he was pretty mad at me for a while, and I haven't tried it again. :rolleyes1

We tried that with our cat too.

In our case, apparently the harness gained twenty pounds as soon as it left our hands and was on the cat. Poor little kitty couldn't walk with all that weight pushing down on her like that.

Weird too, when we took it off, it seemed to only weigh mere ounces again.

Beware of those magic harnesses. ;)

All I have to say is, be careful! :goodvibes Cats aren't meant for walking on leashes, and will usually freak out a little bit. Make sure you stay at arms-length, so you can grab him if he escapes the harness. They have this crazy ability to slip right out of it backwards. Or else, they will flop over and act like they're dying, and refuse to move. If you put him on grass - you might have more success - they can get so into sniffing and chewing the grass, they don't notice as much that they're tethered to you! :rotfl:

(Just make sure the grass doesn't have bugs in it that'll make him itch ;))

Yup, we must of had one of those magic harness' too! It was so funny to see her immediately belly down to the ground and refuse to move.

Reminds me of this lolcat I saw the other day

We have a harness for our cat but when we put it on her she fall on her side and we have to drag her. It's hilarious, she just won't budge.

I'm letting all the crazy out in this post, but my cat loves to go on walks! She's a siamese. We don't have a harness, but she does just fine on a leash.

Once I even took her down the street to get ice cream, scooped her up, and put her around the neck, bought my ice cream, and went home.

I no longer wonder why the neighborhood children are scared of me. I am the epitome of the crazy cat lady.

:rotfl:

Great lolcat! I love it.

You guys are hilarious, thanks for the laughs. I think I'll give him a break for a while & try again another day. My arms & hands have had enough.

Took him for a drag.:rotfl:

Cass, in the photo (which is a riot) it looks like part of the harness is in front of the front paws, is that the way it's suppose to go? If so, that might make it a little easier. Yeah, right.

It is so good to know that I don't have the only cat who just can't stand up under the weight of the harness! We got on for him because he always wants to go outside. Since he was declawed when we got him, outside is a big no-no on his own. So we thought we'd get the harness and take him out once in a while. He is so funny when we actually get him outside. Last summer after practicing for a couple of months, he did get to where he would walk across the yard. This winter we tried taking him out in the snow one day when he was "scratching" at the door all day. We put the harness on and took him out on the deck. He didn't like the snow one little bit!

That's not my cat! just one I saw on the web being dragged. :rotfl:

I have a really pretty pic of my cat in her harness - I'll post it when I get home from the office.

Taking your cat for a walk can be a real drag. :lmao:

I slay me! :rotfl2:

You people have me laughing so hard I'm crying...AT WORK mind you!
:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Oh, and I'm only laughing hysterically because I've been there. I tried it once too because someone in my apartment complex at the time was able to bring her cats outside in the courtyard without harnesses. They just hung out in the yard and played until it was time to go back in. But I KNEW my cat would try to run if I didn't have a harness on him.

It was the most hysterical, entertaining thing! If nothing else, OP...PLEASE videotape it when you do it! PLEASE!?!?!?! :flower3:
*SIGH* I can't breathe...:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Love the LOL Cats!!

Okay here is our cat "Little Kitty" we practice with the harness when we are in the house and when we go outside she just lays there like a slug. The only time she stood on her paws was to try and get back in the house. :lmao:

Your cat is an exact clone of a cat we had when I was a kid -- McGovern! I'll have to see if I can find the only picture I have of her.

(Yes, that was HER name; born in 1972. She did at one point have a toy named Eagleton, as I recall).

And, oddly enough, my mother did train McGovern to walk in a harness.

Maybe McGovern was reincarnated?

OK, that's definitely not McGovern.

Flip side, yes. Heart side, no.
