Cat advice please

I'm sorry for your loss.

This past year and a half have been hard on our family, pet-wise. Last spring, we lost our beloved 15yo cat. Like yours, he was just failing--clearly, it was his time, but we hated to see him go. Then last October, another cat--young, but with a heart murmur--suddenly failed. She threw a blood clot to her pelvic region (saddle thrombosis)--the vet said the prognosis and long-term quality of life were both poor, so we put her out of her misery. Then this spring, our 11yo dog got skin cancer. It advanced rapidly, we put her down in April. Our house was quiet and sad.

I was making tentative plans to get my husband a Maine Coon kitten for his birthday (October)--we needed time and space to grieve, plus our daughter had an August wedding planned. Then this summer, my other daughter texted--a co-worker had found 2 tiny kittens at a construction site. His parents couldn't foster--they had senior kitties. Might we foster them? A couple days later, we were foster fails. Maui and Pele have brought much joy (and chaos!) to our home. Never mind about the Maine Coon--Maui is super floofy and silky. And my younger DD swears that Pele, who has unusual markings, has a paw print on one side of her torso, and a "nose boop" on the other.

You, too, will have joy again. When you're ready. The Universal Cat Distribution System and all.

I’m so sorry to hear this. They seem to have ways to let us know when they’re ready to go. Sending love and hugs.

Awww, so sorry to hear it.

We had to say goodbye to our 10-year-old cat suddenly this past May. It was terrible. And the first time in 30+ years we hadn't had a cat in the house. Wouldn't you know, we ended up rescuing two feral kittens not long after. They are no longer feral in the least, and just little loves. You do never know when that Cat Distribution System will pay you a visit.

Wow your loving responses just brought tears to my eyes. I truly appreciate each and every one
Sorry to read too about those of you who have lost pets.
Ariel liked to drink out of the facuet in our bathroom. She would fall asleep with one paw in the sink and the draped over the edge
My DH says now if only I could see do that again.
She was one special kitty as they all are
Thanks again and take care
