Cat 7 only for 3 people or less not 4 (2 adults & 2 child)

is this true, i thought you could have 4 people in a cat 7.... if its true not fare :sad2:

how would it work if i booked a cat 7 for 2 people and and inside room acroos the hall for 2 people or does the cat 7 rooms have connection doors

i am in a jam... i cant see spending the $$ for a cat 6 for the dec. 31
-7 night cruise , its suppose to be a surprise, but dh said if im planning a cruise and its our first cruise he would like to have a veranda. help!

Sorry, but it is true, all Cat. 7 sleep only 3. They have the queen bed that sleeps 2 (that can be separated into 2 twins) and the fold down couch that sleeps 1. Cat. 7 do not have the overhead, pull down berth bed which is where the 4th person sleeps.

My family did a Cat. 7 and Cat. 11 that was directly across the hall but we had three adults plus the two children, so there was an adult in the cabin across the hall. It worked fine.

There are a couple of connecting Cat. 7 cabins which share an interior door.

I read somewhere that if it says it only sleeps 3 than that is all that can occupy a room. Alot of the rooms have connecting staterooms, you just need to look at a deck plan of the ship to see if any Cat 7's do or call DCL or a travel agent and they can set it up. I don't think it's that much of a difference in price between the Cat 7 & Cat 6, especially since it is a surprise and your DH really wants a verandah. Verandah rooms are the best by the way and the Cat 7 has obstructed views b/c it is not an open verandah like the Cat 6 rooms.

thank you, i am not sure if i can justify $8000 for a cat 6. and that is the only time we can travel during the holidays, easter 2006 is about $2000 more then christmas 2005.

i was told by dcl that if you have 2 staterooms they would have to charge me 1 adult 1 child per stateroom, but the child price is actually an adult charge. since they charge for the first 2 people as adults, then the 3rd is cheaper and the 4 is even cheaper.

if that makes sense ;)

That is correct....every cruiseline prices like that....first two people in the cabin are charged the adult rate and then a reduced rate for 3rd or 4th person in cabin, even if there is only 1 adult and the rest are kids.

Thank you, i just went on the DCL site and priced it out. i would not be saving any money by booking a cat 7 & connecting room or an inside room, matter of fact it would be about $2000 more, i would be better off with the cat 6 if i can bring myself to book it.

or i could book cat 8 and i could always upgrade to cat 6 right before or at the port, i know i would be taking a chance. once i pay the cruise off it would be easier to swallow another $2000, i think :rotfl:

If you're sailing during the holidays, I would not count on being able to purchase an upgrade at the port. There's a reason these cruises are more expensive - they almost always sail full. If you're counting on having a verandah room, I would suggest booking the category 6 room. I don't believe that purchasing an upgrade at the port represents any significant savings, and as I said, there's a good chance that there won't be any cat. 6's available. I'd hate for you to be stuck without a verandah.

thank you for the info, i just thought if its this expensive now, when it gets closer and dcl raises the rates i thought it wouldnt be full. i guess i will have to get a second job and soon :rotfl:
