we are planning a cruise in August or Nov of 2003. We cruised in Oct and stayed in a Cat. 6. Although it was nice, we never used the balcony. So I thought a Cat. 11 would be do-able, but I am afraid I will feel like I am in a closet. Are the rooms that much smaller? Will I feel claustorphobic? It is a pretty big savings, $ I could spend on the Islands (hahahaha). Will my family be really disapointed after staying in a Cat. 6? HELP PLEASE:confused:

A Cat. 11 is almost the same size as a Cat. 6, other than the split bathroom, so you would not feel cramped. You should be find, particularly if it is a shorter cruise. You might also want to consider booking a "secret porthole room" (sold as Cat. 10 inside, but with an obstructed view porthole). That is what we booked for our three-peat, which was 10 days on the Wonder. My favorite stateroom is a Cat. 6, but the Cat. 10 is much more budgetary! We found that we just spent more time in the Rainforest or on the deck 7 "secret" aft verandah, which is often almost like having a private one anyway!

My Hubby and I have stayed in cat 7 navigator's Verandah, and cat 11 inside. Call me crazy but I liked the cat 11 and 12 inside better! I think it is because the way the room is set. You have the couch area then bed. In the cat 7, we always tripped over the end of the bed going to the couch and verandah. I also like the bathroom in cat 12 better than the split bathroom. I had more room in 1 bathroom with shower, than bathroom and shower in seperate rooms. I may be the only person who prefers this, but Hubby isn't complaining with the money we save.:D

DH and I agree with Tluvs2talk. We had a hidden porthole once and a Cat 11 once. We could not get the Hidden Porthole again so got the same Cat. 11 we had before and are looking forward to it. When we wanted to sleep in, it was dark!! When we wanted ocean, we went out on a deck. If we wanted to see what was on the other side of the ship, we just walked across. Works well!

This makes me feel good about deciding to go with a Category 11 stateroom.

I went last summer with my DH, DB, DS-in-law and DMother. We got 2 staterooms. A 7 (Navigator's verandah) and an 11 across the hallway from each other. It worked out great.

We had 2 baths between the 5 of us which made getting ready easier. We had the separation when we needed it. We also had the verandah to share.

It was the best of both worlds.

If I had to go to an 11 only. I wouldn't mind it at all. It has plenty of room. The only difference is the light.

IMHO, if you like to sleep in the DARK, cat 11 is definately for you. There is almost no light coming in from cracks around the door. If you don't, then bring a night light to plug in somewhere in the room.

Gosh--if the veranda is no big deal, you're in a great position. Go with the 11 and have a great time. My sister has great stories about her cruises and has only stayed in 12 and 11.
