We currently have two Cat 5 rooms booked for the Aug. 18 cruise. Just received a quote for the Cat. 3--it is $800 more. Is it worth it? There will be 5 of us--DH, myself and 3 kids (9, 6 and 3). DH will be home on leave (2 weeks) and we booked the two cabins so we would have some privacy. If we go with the Cat. 3, we will all be in the same cabin but have more room. What do you all think? We've never cruised before so we're pretty clueless.

We had a cat. 3 room on our first two cruises. We had two cat. 5's on last weeks Eastern. Here is my opinion... The catagory 3 was amazing. Would do it again in a heartbeat. However, only if it was one of the rooms with the extra bed in the living room. We had the pull down bed in the master bedroom, which was fine when my youngest was smaller, but now it just wouldn't work. The two catagory 5's worked fine. They were connecting and were great for us. I did miss the concierge booking my spa and Palo ressies. Just make sure where the extra bed is before booking if it will matter to you.

Good point Thanks! I need to check on that. You're right, I don't want the pull-down bed in the bedroom!

Ok, they do have the category 3 with the pull down bed in the living room. AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHh, what to do? what to do?

I'd go for the Cat. 3. We were in the same position for our cruise in December. We originally had 2 connecting Cat. 5's, but ended up going for the mid-ship Cat. 3 with the bigger layout/pull-down bed in the living room. If you want to see my pictures, PM your regular e-mail address to me and I'll send you a link to my photo album.

It was worth the $$$ for us. Not just for the space, but also for the triple wide balcony, VCR and large TV's, videos, full menu room service, dining table, pre-boarding, concierge gifts, etc. That Cat. 3 was amazing!
:)

You're going to love it!

I sent you the link. It really is a great suite! :sunny:

I just got my photos from my annual stay in 8532. Let me know if you want to see them.

Which room did you get?

Thanks everyone! Thanks Jenny for the pictures, they are beautiful!!! Now, just crossing my fingers that DH gets leave when I've booked the cruise!! LOL

Take the cat. 3! It's a special room. You'll love it.

what cat is 8532? we've stayed in 8030 several times...it's going to be hard to not be in it this time around :(

8532 is a mid-ship Cat. 3. (One of the bigger Cat.3's)

I just booked 8532 a cat 3. based on all of the good advised from all of you.

thanks,

-N

Jenny and her pics are so awesome, thank you again for your assistance with my cabin :cheer2:

There is a huge difference between the mid deck Cat 3s and all the other Category 3 staterooms.

We've stayed in both. Thank goodness I never new the difference on our first 4 day cruise. All non midship Cat 3s are soo crowded. But you won't notice until you see the midships Cat 3. I couldn't sail in anything else now!

When we walked into Stateroom 8532 I was shocked! A triple wide verandah... doors from the bedroom, doors from the dinning area and doors from the family room area. With the pull down bed in family area and not in the bedroom, my kids could have put a ping pong table in that area when the pull down was locked up!! With room to spare. With the bed pulled down, there is space to walk around even with the sofa made into a bed.

All the hall nooks and cranies were an additional bonus to put all cameras, sunscreens, KTTW cards, etc. Storage space galore!
We let our 15 year old take the sofa bed, our 11 year old took the pull down bed, we put the two chairs in the sitting room together and put sheets on it and made it a 3rd bed. It looked like a comfortable crib-type bed. We had the bedroom to ourselves.

In the other Cat 3, when the pull down bed was "down" you had to crawl over the bed to get to the verandah. It was a hassle. The dining table was crowded into a corner - hardly used for anything but storage.

These mid ship rooms are amazing! You will be thrilled! :Pinkbounc  :cool1: :bounce: :bitelip:

Thanks! I'm happy to help. I had no idea what the suite looked like before we went. No one on the boards had pictures. I'm such a planner and it just drove me nuts wondering if I booked an okay room.
