Just wanted a few opinions..... will a Cat 4 room be to small for 2 adults and 3 children (11,9,7)? Does anyone know the price difference between a Cat 4 and a Cat 3??
Thanks so much!

A cat. 4 is 304 sq. ft. and a cat. 3 is 614 sq. ft. Another option is 2 connecting staterooms in lower categories. If you got 2 10's the price would be cheaper than the cat. and give you 428 sq. ft. including 2 split bathrooms. Connecting rooms in all categories are available except 11 and 12. Two verandah cabins would be more expensive than the cat. 4, but still more space. The only difference between the category 4 and the category 10-5 is enough space at the end of the room where the verandah door is is flip a murphy bed from the wall. But, most here have said the category 4 was lovely and not too cramped for a family of 5. The cat. 3's around the midship elevators are a bit bigger than the other ones, and the murphy bed is in the living room. The other category 3's have the murphy bed in the master bedroom.

My kids are practically the same age as yours and we were fine in a cat. 4. The only bad thing was the murphy bed coming down in front of the veranda door - my daughter is the last to rise in the morning and I had to climb over her to get outside to enjoy the view. Yeah, its cozy, and there was one backpack that was always in the way but it was ...nice. Like sleeping in the living room or something. The split bathrooms worked great. My oldest, who was almost 11, was out of the room a lot - we would all be in bed when he got back at midnight from his clubs. Mr. Independent. But usually during the day, there were only two or three of us in the room at one time.

If you're into a lot of privacy, it might get sticky, but there is a curtain to draw in the middle of the room for changing etc. My guys are not known for their modesty. If you can afford and really want the extra space, go for the Cat 3 but the Cat four is plenty.

We have stayed in the Cat 4 on three different times, the last being this past July. My teens were 17, 13, 16. My husband and son are 6'2 and we had no problems with space. There really is an unbeliveable amount of storage space in those staterooms.

But I do agree the only drawback is the pull down murphy bed in front of the Veranda door. It made it interesting getting onto the veranda when the bed was down.

Our first 7-day cruise (August 2000) was in a Cat4 with 3 adults and 2 children. We were a bit cramped, but we managed. In January of this year, we decided to do another 7-day cruise. This time we opted for adjoining Cat10 cabins. What a difference. Even though we gave up the verandah, we had so much more room that we felt that the tradeoff was worth it. Lots more closet and drawer space and TWO bathrooms!!!

And it was hard getting to the clothes in the big 'trunk', which is by the veranda doors, when the Murphy bed was down - that's where all the clothes were and I feared for my life every morning.
I pushed the bed up but was always afraid it was going to come crashing down on me.

I think we might try the two rooms next time, though being one floor down from the pool - food deck was pretty handy.

We are going in 2 weeks and are in Cat. 4. We have two kids and we thought about upgrading to Cat. 3. The price difference for us was over 2000.00 dollars. We said we'd pass, we're happy with the cat 4 and looking forward to an amazing trip.
