Ok, after reading some comments on noise levels in the midship cat 3's, I am wondering how bad it really is. We have 8534 booked on the Magic. Can someone give me an idea of what to expect. What did you do to cover up the noise early in the mornings.

A lot depends on how light a sleeper you are. The 5:00am moving of the chairs/tables woke me up but the rest of the family slept through it.

DD and I did hear the walls creaking in 8032 when the ship was rocking a bit due to the seas. That wasn't enough to wake you up but we heard when we went to sleep.

I bring a small table fan to help drown out the noise.

We were right next door in 8532 last Thanksgiving. The early morning noise was not bad at all, but the noise at night was pretty bad. That part of deck 8 is under the area right outside the door to the arcade on deck 9. We heard kids running back and forth above us until the arcade closed (around midnight).

I have stayed in 8534 twice and love the room but the noise is there. I'm a light sleeper so the noise of the crew setting up for the day tends to wake me up. I don't really mind since I don't like to sleep much while on the ship. I take advantage of being up early and roam the empty ship. I'm the only one who gets woken up by the noise so it must not be so bad. You get use to the creaking sounds of the wood at night. I was surprised it was way worse in the Roy suite. The location of the room, the space in the room and on the balcony is worth the little bit of noise you experience in the room. You'll love 8534!

We have 8534 In Feb. In 06 we had 8048. The noise level in 8048 is probably the same as 8534 in the morning. It too woke me up but I was thankful because I got to see all those beautiful sunrises!! It sounds like in 8534 we will have to deal with the arcade...in 8048 it was the ping pong tables. But I'm not complaining!!! Love...love....LOVE having the suites!! :cloud9: I'll deal with the noise!!

I was bothered most in the early mornings - 5am or so - from the scraping of deck chairs above as the crew sets up

I would bring earplugs

We have 8532 booked on the Wonder for Christmas next year. I'm thinking I'll get earplugs, and start getting used to them before we leave.

We have also stayed in 8048, and thought that the early morning noise was MUCH worse in that cabin! Whatever early morning noise there was above 8532 never woke me up, but the noise woke me up (very early) every morning in 8048 (I am not a morning person). We did talk with the concierge about it and it did seem to get a little better, but it still woke me up.

It woke me up in the morning also....but just me...no one else!! So I did my best to crawl over everyone to get out to the verandah to watch the sunrise. I guess it didnt bother me! It was my first cruise and we were in a suite...I was way too excited to sleep!!! But if the other side of the ship is quieter in the a.m. I just might be missing those sunrises next time!

Thanks for the replies. I usually sleep pretty sound, but the sunrises do sound great!!! Maybe a fan and CPAP will cover up any unwanted sounds. Only 70 more days to go!!!!!!!!! :cool1:

I would have to think that the port side mid-ship cat 3 cabins are quieter, since they are under the area by the Cove Cafe. We have stayed in four cat3 cabins - 8048, 8532, 8600 and 8602, and believe it or not, the quietest ones were 8600 and 8602. Even though they are under Topsiders/BBB, we heard very little noise. We were in 8602 for the EB Panama Canal repo two years ago, so the crew had 14 nights to make noise, but didn't. We have 8086 reserved for our Wonder cruise next April, and it is also under BBB, so we're hoping it is also quiet. The quietest cabin we have ever had was 8508 - a cat 4 directly under the hair salon. Never heard a thing from above.
