The major difference between an 8 and an 11, besides the inside/outside thing of course, is the bathrooms. Category 10 & higher have a split bathroom with the tub & a sink in one bathroom and the toilet & another sink in the other. This, IMO, is a great benefit, particularly when getting ready in the morning or for dinner. Other than that the only major difference is the window.

We've cruised in both a Cat. 11 and a Cat. 8 and enjoyed both trips. We didn't mind being inside at all. If you are the type who spends most of the time out and about on the ship then an inside cabin will be fine. If you like to spend time in the room during the day you may want to go with the 8.

I don't know how the DCL cabins compare to Carnival's, but I have heard that DCL cabins are larger than the industry standard. You may want to check out www.disneycruise.com
They have floor plans for the rooms and deck plans to show you where the rooms are on the ship.

Hope this helps.
