Cat 11 Question

All of my Cat 11's had the steamer trunk.

Ours did not have the trunk - just got off a week ago - cabin #7563.

I've only been in categories 6 and 9 but will probably book an 11 next time to save $$$. What's the difference in a sideways and a regular 11? Also, what's the difference in a 10 and an 11? The split bathroom? Actually I wasn't a fan of the split bathroom too much as both sides were very small, although it was nice that one adult could use the toilet while the other was in the shower. But next trip it will just be 2 adults with no kids :thumbsup2 and I think I would like the "bigger" bathroom.

Our cat 11 rm #7539 didn't have a steamer trunk either. It was only my DH and myself and the room worked for us ok. I can't imagine a family of 4 staying in a cat 11, but if you are trying to save money I would stay in a cat 11 again. Our first time sailing we were in a cat 6 and loved it and actually have a cat 6 for our next sailing (family of 3). If you aren't going to use the room all that much except for sleeping there is really no major problems of a cat 11 (except a split bathroom would be nice).

We have sailed twice in a Cat. 11. First trip with 4 people, second with 3. The staterooms are nice, but crowded for four people. The problem was with storage of luggage for four people. We did not have steamer trunk either time, once on Deck 6, and once on Deck 7. That would have been helpful. We were not able to unpack suitcases, and were constantly digging them out to change (had to stack beside bed, which made for tight moving). Does anyone know which staterooms have steamer trunks?

Needless to say, the sleeping was great and the savings made it worthwhile. I would much rather spend the extra money elsewhere, considering actual time spent in the stateroom.

Which rooms do have steamer trunks? Does 6555 have one? We are a family of 4, but want to save money to spend on other things. We hope we won't regret getting a category 11.

Hey My family of 8 people (My mom and dad and 6 kids ages 19-7) Stayed in two cat 11 and we were fine. the space thing wasn't an issue at all in my room wich had me my two sisters and one of my brothers. My little sister and I had the two twin beds and my brother had the couch while my other sis took the wall bed. The only problem with the single bathroom is the same one we have at home and that is that my brother likes to take long showers.

Hey!!!!!! That was My Room!!!!!
I thought that room was great. My girls were 11 and 12 at the time of the last cruise and we all fit just fine. There is no steamer trunk in that room. But the proximity to the staircase and elevators were wonderful, and there was no noise while trying to sleep :) :cheer2:

We've done both a cabin with veranda and category 11 (now three times). The veranada is nice - but we were busy doing things on the ship so we decided that for use (mom, dad, daughter now 6) wasn't worth the money. We book a category 11 as close to the back of ship on deck 7 - so we are very close to the deck 7 after "secret deck" - so if we want to be outside we can be. I don't think we pack light and always have plenty of room (if anything we were short on closet space for the hanging clothes). There are only three of us - 4 might well be tight space wise as well as storage. Didn't mind the bathroom - and I've always brought along the "plastic shoe hanger" for the bathroom no matter what category cabin we had. Didn't mind not having a window at all. Thought we would. I'm not sure I'd ever spend the extra for a window now (even if I won the lottery...OK, I would if I won the lottery). All a very personal choice, but with the prices for DCL - which are indeed higher - it is a very reasonable compromise I think. We think the value in Disney is that the inside cabins are relatively spacious compared to other cruise lines and the entertainment for our daughter.

5501 (sideways cat 11) has a steamer trunk!

sideways 5513 has a trunk as well. And a great location near the stairs/elevators and just around the corner from the kids club!

Most of the rooms are a long rectangle where you enter from one end, a short side. Sideways rooms are entered from a door in the center of the long side. So when you enter, you enter into the sitting area with the bathroom/ closet area to one side of you and the main bed area to the other. I believe the rooms are the same dimensions, but the entrance gives you the illusion of more space. Hope that helps some.

Glad to hear this, Corryn. I wish we had a trunk, but I'm glad to hear that it is in a nice location. I guess we'll manage and our family will be very cozy:)

We just got confirmed for our Nov. 12th with a cat. 11 on deck 7. I have read so many great things about deck 7 that I almost hope we don't get upgraded. We are a fam of four, but the boys (8 and 12) pack light and barely visit the restroom but to brush their teeth (and use the potty :rotfl: ), so I hope it will be ok. Our priority was $$ -- we just wanted to get on the ship!!

We traveled twice on the Wonder. First time was a party 20 and the second was a party of 15. Everyone stayed in a Cat 11. The first time my sister had 4 in her cabin and a stroller (youngest was 2). This time both sisters had 4 in a cabin.

You manage. You're only in the room (at least we were) to sleep and get ready to go to dinner.

I'd much rather save the $$$. Plus I actually like the bathroom.

One thing I did on our recent cruise Cat 11 was leave the 3 "men" to get ready for dinner with one shower/bathroom and toss what I needed in a beach bag and headed to the fitness center showers. Large showers with 10 inch heads, loads of extra towels rolled up, shampoo and conditioner in shower and a dry sauna if you have the time....... Very relaxing way to get ready with no one knocking on the door asking for their turn. I never showered in the room. Also, an inexpensive "treat" for yourself, if you are into it....... you can use the rainforest on the at sea day for $15. Gives you access to the "spa" environment without having a treatment. They give you a key to a locker, a robe and shoes each visit. Rainforest has 2 steam saunas, a dry sauna, scented showers and heated loungers.
