I haven't seen much on Cat 11's. I wondered if anyone has a picture of the single bathroom. And how much storage space to expect. Also, did anyone get kinda freaked out with not having a window. I am already getting worried about this. We can upgrade to a Cat 9 and get the window (we did this Cat before on Disney Wonder so I know what to expect) but I would like to save the $$ to use on other fun things on the trip. Just want to get opinions about what to expect.
THANKS!!! :teeth:

I have only ever sailed in a CAT 11 so I don't have anything to base a comparison on but we had no problem in our CAT 11. It was just DD and me and being a single parent, I have to go as cheap as I can. I booked GTY CAT 12 and for our last cruise we were bumped up to an 11 and for the upcoming cruise we scored a lengthwise CAT 11. The rooms are fine for two or three people. One day I am going to travel in a cabin with a verandah, but until then it's CAT GTY 12 for me :thumbsup2

We traveled in a Cat. 10 inside stateroom so I can't comment on the Cat. 11--but I can tell you that we had no problem not having a window. Some of the best sleep we have had! Great for those afternoon naps, too!

We were in category 11 on our first Disney cruise (bumped the 2nd time to a nine) and we've been in an inside cabin on all the other lines we've been on. We've never had a problem with it except that when you get up in the morning, you have no idea what the weather is like outside. However, Disney has a camera pointing out in front of the ship and they show it on one of the tv channels.

One suggestion I would give is to bring along a digital alarm clock so that you can see what time it is when you wake up.

I don't have a pic of the bathroom, but this is room 6321 on the Wonder:

We had a cat 9 and cat 10 across the hall when we sailed with our 2 teen boys and toddler girl. I got the cat 9 for DH who tends to be minorly clausterphobic. Long story short, we ended up trading with the boys because the Cat 10 lack of window was no problem whatsoever, and the darkness of the Cat 10 helped the toddler sleep better. I'd take a Cat 11 and save the money without a second thought!

Never been in a Category 11, but in a Category 10 inside, and I agree, no problem. Do we prefer a porthole - absolutely! But we are hardly even in our room except to sleep.
We would have no problem booking inside again, but we are going with extended famiily and they all wanted to be together, so next cruise we will be doing Deck 5 Category 8.
Someday - a verandah!!!

I agree with all of the above. I always book a cat 11. Once we were bumped to a 9. The porthole was nice but size of the stateroom was the same. I almost booked the 9 for 11 night European cruise, but it was $800 more and I thought I'd rather use that money for sightseeing and souveneirs.

I also prefer the total darkness. Never had such restful sleep.

I've cruised each time alone with my son who was 3 the first 2 cruises and was still taking 2-3 hour naps every day. I'm extremely claustrophobic, so I need to have at least a window, but both times in the past (and also our upcoming one in 4 DAYS) I booked a verandah because that way, when he naps, I don't feel trapped in the room. I could still sit on the verandah the whole time he napped and enjoy the beautiful Caribbean! :thumbsup2

We have cruised in an 8, 10, and 4. We will enjoy our 10 on the next cruise. :) Being on the ship is great...it doesn't matter where we are.

We've done category 11 twice. I don't have a picture of the bathroom, but the storage space is very limited. We solved this with a tip from the Dis. We bought this soft-sided fabric shoe holder with about 20 plastic pockets for holding shoes. It came with 4 metal hooks so you can hang it on the back of the bathroom door. It folds up to take very little space in your luggage. You can fill the pockets with everything--hair brushes, sun screen, hairspray, etc. This was absolutely the best travel tip I ever got on the board.

Here's some photo's that I borrowed from another DIS'er

We stayed in Cat 11 and thought it was great :goodvibes
My husband Wanted the room with no window. He said that he got sick looking out his porthole window while on his last cruise (when he was single). I loved it because it was very dark in the room, which was awesome for sleeping.

I also liked the single bath in my Cat 11. With the shower curtain open I felt like I had more 'elbow' room than in the split bath.

Another thing I like about the inside stateroom, is the 'living' area is first and the 'bedroom' is tucked in the back behind the curtain. Someone could sleep with the curtain closed while another person showered and dressed and used the vanity. With the outside staterooms you are passing back and forth in front of the bed from bath, to closet, to vanity.

Corryn's vanity picture will give you a good idea of the storage in the bathroom - that would be the little bitty glass shelf. You really need to pick up the over-the-door shoe holder. After our first cruise we don't go anywhere without it - two weeks in Mexico last year and it was an absolute lifesaver!
We really liked our Cat-11 on our cruise. As others mentioned it was wonderful for napping! I am very claustrophobic and had no problem with the room at all, other than the thought of having more than DH and I in it was a bit overwhelming. I can't imagine trying to bathe and dress a whole family in that space - it's pretty small. I kicked DH out so that I could pack our bags the last night as I didn't want to have to climb over him to get to everything.
Storage in the room is more than sufficient. I think you will be pleased with your choice.
Enjoy your trip!

DH and I had a sideways Cat. 11 on our last cruise and we really liked it. However, I agree with the poster who said they couldn't imagine squeezing a family of four in there (which is why we booked a Cat. 10 this trip since we're taking the kids). I think Disney did a great job with the lighting on the inside cabins, there's alot of different lighting options so you can have it as bright or dim as you like. We found it cozy. Enjoy your trip!

we had a cat 11 on our last cruise, but it was just DH and I, and we were quite comfortable. I like it because we were on deck 7. Our room slept 4 people if you can imagine that. Our first cruise was a cat 6 and we loved that. I don't know if I could do a cat 11 again after having a verandah and the split bath. If anything I missed the split bathroom. In our cat 6 room I could put our suitcase under the bed without difficulty in our cat 11 room I ended up putting it in the closet because it wouldn't fit under the bed. I did like the fact that we save lots of money to spend on souveniers and other things.

We have stayed in a sideways Cat 11 and have booked the same room again in November. It was fine for our family of four. We used the TV as a night light tuned in to the camera up on deck. When the sun came up the boys knew they could get up as well. It's like your own little porthole.
We also used the over the door shoe holder hung on the sliding closet door right outside the bathroom. Worked great.

We just came back from the most recent Magic.. and we had room 5501, sideways 11.

It was SMALL with four people. I remember walking in and thinking "This is it?"---my family was laughing at me looking for other parts of the room.

We stored empty bags under the bed/part of closet. Dirty clothes was in closet as well. We used the closet light as a night light.

We sailed last Christmas in Category 10 with an inside stateroom. One comment I have is I will never sail again in inside stateroom. Here's my freak out story

The day we were to arrive @ CC, I woke up @ what actually was 2:00am. But who could tell in a cabin without a window and no sunlight. I thought it was 2:00 in the afternoon and we had slept all day and all but missed CC. I panicked and woke up my nephew (20) and my niece (6). All I kept thinking was that I had ruined CC for my niece and we were in trouble with my brother and his wife. I NEVER sleep past 9:00 I'm an early riser. I thought boy I MUST have been tired to sleep that late!

My nephew woke up and thought it couldn't be possibly 2:00pm but I must be right so we all started to get dressed in our swimming suits. We @ least were going to enjoy what was left of the day on the beach. I was also upset thinking we had missed the stingray excursion.

THEN I turned on the TV and Anderson Cooper was on. I thought what was this show doing on now it was only on in the middle of the n-i-g-h-t! Oh no it's only 2:00am! I ran out to the promenade deck and YES it was dark and we were still @ sea and had not missed CC afterall!

I felt like an idiot and my family laughed and still laugh @ this story! :lmao:

We had three people in a cat 11 room and I felt like we were tripping all over each other in there. I didn't like being shut up in a room with no window, there was no steamer trunk so that limited the place to store your clothes and no split bathroom. Personally I would never book an 11 again. I liked the verandah the first 2 cruises and I won't go less than a 6 again.
