I just found out about these type of rooms and am wondering if I even have a chance to snag one. Right now the cruise we are going on is sold out of all but verandahs. Should I even bother checking every day or even at the pay off date?

I know you can't give me any real idea, but I am wondering if I'm just wasting my time at this point.

I just put an alert on cruise fish for it, I think that will help me eliminate looking everyday?

I don't have any experience with cruise fish, so can't comment on that. However, we have stayed in an 8A (6012 on the Fantasy) and they're definitely worth some extra effort. I don't know if I can stay in a "regular" stateroom again.

I know, I am so in love with that room!!! Being I have 2 boys and they fight over the windows to have two would be amazing. I will just keep checking every day. I don't mind the extra work to get that room.

How far out is the cruise you are looking for? We've stayed in an 8A & loved it besides the 2 windows, it's huge. We booked our 8A a couple of years back, when pricing for that time frame was first released. Not to be a "Downer" but I'd say your chances are very slim (but could happen) of snagging an 8A (there really aren't very many of these & they go fast). If you already have a stateroom booked, you could call DCL & ask if they have a wait list for 8As. We've done this a few times when Concierge was booked & got calls when staterooms became available, which we then booked over the phone

We are traveling in an 8A in August, and I am super excited about it. I love the more square layout and the two windows. However, to get it, we booked well in advance--about nine months or so, if I remember correctly. That category has been sold out for our cruise since at least March or maybe even earlier (I check from time to time), and while I have seen other categories reopen in that time (especially when new itineraries were released), I never saw the 8a category reopen. I think your best shot would be checking very close to the PIF date because people might cancel then since it is their last chance to do so without penalty. Good luck!

ETA: There are only twelve 8A rooms, so that makes your chances not that great.

We are already booked in a 8D with a large porthole with seating. So if I don't get it, it will be okay. Sail date is 9/12

I thought I read that you can only go on a wait list for concierge.

We booked 6016 on the Fantasy (love the square type room) and we arent even going till Sept 3, 2016 so we booked way ahead. booked this specific one because it has a circular tub with shower and I believe (what I was told anyways when on the phone) the others on this deck and this square type room are all walk in showers.

Plus only half of those (maybe even less than half) sleep four. Some only sleep 3.

FWIW, I did not like the 8D room (6010 on Dream). Very narrow, and when the beds were set up - one sofa bed, and one "murphy" bed from the wall - it was impossible to maneuver around the room at all.

We have this room (6012) booked for the Fantasy next May. We stayed in 6512 on the Dream and loved it.

Forgot to insert quote from mcd2745. We booked on opening day and 8a is already gone but I would still try to check a few times a week until paid in full date.

Can you post pics of the bathtub/shower (cant find any online) and your thoughts on this room since we will have it later in 2016?

When we originally started looking to book a cruise in November '15 the only staterooms available were verandah rooms. After about a month of checking almost daily an inside stateroom (Cat. 11C) opened up so I snagged it. A week or so later I went back and looked and magically there was a Cat. 8A available for $120 more. I upgraded immediately. So the moral of the story is keep checking or sign up for Cruise Fish.

We are in 6014 on the Fantasy for one of the Star War cruises. DH is in a scooter and requires
an accessible bathroom. I know the rest of the 8a's on deck 6 were originally classified
as accessible but now they are not, but still have the accessible bathroom, not the split bath.
Does anyone know why my 6014 is designated as accessible (which we need) and the
others are not? What design was designated as not meeting ADA standards.

If 6016 on the Fantasy is like 6016 on the Dream (which I believe it is), it has a square tub, not round.

I am pretty sure all the 8a that are not handicapped accessible have square tubs, not round tub, but I could be wrong. Also, I know ours on the Dream has a tub but not a split bath; I believe that is common in this category.
