Castmembers "FORCED" to stay with guests they get in free??

Sounds like NYDisneyKid may have had plans that involved using a CM friend to get in for free, and said plans are now foiled because of the rule that the CM has to stay with them. Why else would OP be so offended by this rule? :confused3

And FWIW, the term "free country" allows you to live in the United States free from government persecution or intervention. It has nothing to do with how corporations choose to conduct business and implement policies. The more you know ;)
Or maybe that NYDisneyKid has a friend who has a friend of a CM - and was given this explanation when asking to be let in the park free?

OK Worse case senario. CM gets sick or passes out and paramedics are called in and take CM to hospital. The free guests are forced leave?

You're not serious, are you? I'm sure your friend or family member being hauled away by the ambulance will be glad to know where your priorities apparently lie.

Seems like an obvious rule to me. I get to buy items that my workplace produces at or below cost (below cost they tax me on the "income" due to tax rules here). I may buy them as gifts, only, for friends and family and I'm expected to make sure that they do not give those gifts to anyone outside of my circle of friends and family.

It's fair because when I started here, the only way to buy these items was to visit a regular electronics store and pay full price like anyone else.

When someone gives you a gift, you can either accept it or reject it. You don't negotiate. Don't like Disney's rules on this gift? No problem, I don't imagine cast members are under any obligation whatsoever to drag people into the parks. Just refuse and go on with your job.

My brother is a cast member, and let us (my husband and I) into the parks as recently as January. He used his main entrance pass to get us in for free, and we walked a bit into Epcot and then he turned around and went off to work, while we went on to enjoy the park. Never had a problem.

I also used to work for Disney and had a silver pass/main entrance pass, but since I was based in New York, whenever I went to visit and brought friends, we all stayed together. I can say that when I got my pass, it came with a little packet explaining the rules, but no one ever really talked about the rules or enforcing them. I'm sure it was assumed you knew how to behave in the theme park, especially if you're an employee of the company.

I think it would just be common sense-- you can let your friends/family into the park, stick with them a bit (as someone else mentioned, don't just let them through the gates and then march right back out so everyone sees you), and make sure they follow the rules. I have never heard of anyone being tracked to make sure they are still with their guests.

But they can identify the cast member from the guest's ticket.

The misbehaving guest could always "misplace" their ticket. If they're about to get kicked out of the park, there's no sense in getting their absent CM host into trouble. Unless they have a grudge against the CM and purposely act up.

Doesn't seem like too high of a risk for the CM. I would guess that most people who enter on a CM pass are going to behave themselves.

My daughter works full time with a woman who's also a seasonal part time CM. As far as I know, they always stay together when my daughter visits the parks as a guest.

Is this really true? I heard a castmember got fired for getting friends in and then turned around and left. Why would a company "force" an employee to do this?

Because that's the rule for using the castmember friends and family pass. If you want the free entry then abide by the rules, if not then you deserve whatever penalty they impose.

I would think that if one of my immediate family members had to be taken to the hospital in an ambulance I would leave the park to go to the hospital to be with them regardless of Disney policy on staying in the park.

The rules Disney puts in place for CM's in this case seem totally reasonable to me and for the life of me I don't know why anyone would have an issue with it.

Getting your family into the park for free seems like a wonderful benefit to me and very generous of Disney to do so.. I sure wouldn't be complaining that they attach a few rules along with it.

I have no problem with this rule, but am curious as to how it is enforced?

Really the only way it can be enforced is if a. the CM walks away right after letting the person in and another CM or manager sees it or b. the guest does something to have their admittance revoked and Disney sees its on a CM pass with no CM present.
