Castmembers "FORCED" to stay with guests they get in free??

Is this really true? I heard a castmember got fired for getting friends in and then turned around and left. Why would a company "force" an employee to do this?

My DD was a CM about 3 yrs ago. When we went down to visit her she had to be with us when we initially entered the park for the day with our complimentary ticket, but did not have to stay with us. A few of the days we were there she actually had to work. Unless things have changed I do not believe this is true.

As of 2013,this was true. CM's are allowed so many guest passé and your required to be with your guests.

Disney parks and Disney rules. I believe that major parks have this requirement as well.

Just a guess, but probably to stop people selling access. Easy to do if you can let them in, and then head off about your own business. Much less likely to sell your passes if you have to spend the day with strangers, and remember it'd be your day off. Not saying it happens, but would imagine the rule is to prevent, or at least help prevent, it happening

CMs don't have to stay with family members but they do with friends that they get into the parks.

I can't comment on if this is true or not or if it's enforced, I'm not a CM.

But, to me it makes sense that it would be. I believe the whole point is that these passes are for guests of CMs, which to me implies people CM are spending time with at the park. It would be far to easy for people to take advantage of this perk by letting your brother's, wife's, cousin's dog sitter's nephew in the park without paying. Not to mention the next level of advantage that the pp mentions of selling the access..

Grounds for termination? Probably not immediate, but a warning for sure.

Well personally I think if you get something for free and there are rules associated with that, you should stick to them. Especially if your friend's career depends on it. I'm sure splitting up to do different rides and intending to meet up again is treated completely different to splitting up because the CM has gone home or to work.

I don't know how it is now but when I worked at the Disney Store, we had to give our immediate family members' names and family was technically only considered spouses and children. Cousins, nieces, etc were not considered immediate family. That may be different now and I'm sure there is someone here (like Robo) who can give up to date info.

If that is the policy, it is probably outlined in their employment manual which degree of relationship equates to family.

I know to get certain benefits here we have to submit documentation to prove relationship.

Just as Pad said would be my guess. Disney Rules, for Disney PARKS. We were told there have been time a CM was fired if they left the group. Our CM knew of a case where a Cm manager saw a Cm and guests together and later the manager noticed the guests were alone and asked. The CM was only written up becuase he admitted he had left them to go to work his shift.

We were with a couple whose niece gave us tickets in Epcot. We all spent the day together.

It is immediate family only who can be let in and not have to be with the CM during the day. Extended family needs to be with the CM. This is for when the CM uses their Maingate to let people in. When they have the complimentary admission tickets they get those can just be given away and the CM does not have to be with the guest regardless of the relationship.

None of this can be sold...that is grounds for immediate termination.

I would not think so. That would really be over the top. We are discussing Disney rule in Disney Parks. I believe other major parks also have similar rules.

I do believe GM or Ford once had rules about plant employees only driving GM or ford cars to work and parking at the plant. I don't think it is still in effect.

Unlikely, but it's possible they could put into place a rule (if there isn't one already) that says they can't wear Universal/Sea World merchandise (t-shirts) while inside Disney parks.

Or that they can't moonlight at Universal/Sea World.

It sounds like the same as Universal. My sister works for Universal, and her comp tickets she doesn't have to be with people, but her blue card pass, which gets 6 in, she does have to stay with them the entire time.

OK Worse case senario. CM gets sick or passes out and paramedics are called in and take CM to hospital. The free guests are forced leave?
