I'm fairly certain that for the time being (until October/November when the celebration changes) you have to win it to stay in it. After that I think they'll rent it to VIP's.

But who know's how it will be in the future though.

You have to win it. Famous people (in other words rich! ) have tried to stay in it but Disney won't allow it (someone offered 100,000 just to stay in it for one night!)

Michael Eisner = no longer employed by the Walt Disney Company. He stepped down in September of '05.

you will always have to win it. no ifs ands or buts. same thing goes for the mickey mouse penthouse in disneyland. disney has teamed up with an outside company that deals with selective sweepstakes of large groups. the "dream squad" which is the group of cast members wandering around the parks can surprise you at any moment with dream fast-passes, special "first riders", or special seating for fireworks. they can happen anywhere at anytime. they arent looking for a type of group, you just have to be at the right place at the right time. but i can give you a little hint. the dream squad wear kahki pants, light blue shirts and carry around a black "year of a million dreams" bag.

We got a little gift from YOMD deal. It was like 8 of us girls from my cheersquad and we were waiting in line for Test Track on our first day there. We were at the back and looked at a clock and we saw that we were supposed to be at DWWS complex in 40 min!! Well we were about to get out of line but then a YOMD castmemeber came up and brought us to the front of the line! He also gave us those Gold YOMD mickey hats. We were soo excited that we were allowed to do that.

oh, yeah, sorry. i always get him confused with whats-his-name-new-guy.
and the disney's family apartment in disneyland was over the firehouse. they still keep the light on every night, as a memory.
i dont think they use it anymore though
