Is there any meal that can be eaten in the castle that is just a meal without all the Princess Hoopla? I think my boys ages 11 and 13 would think it would be fun to eat in the castle but I know my 13 yr old who has Asperger's would just hate it( and he would be embarrisingly verbal about this too) if it is filled with princesses and all the characters that go with that....

Breakfast and lunch are full-out character meals. Dinner is not technically a character meal. Cinderella is in the lobby, but the only characters upstairs is the Fairy Godmother and Suzy and Perla, and they are just there for a show.

Dinner at the Castle does NOT have Princesses coming around to the tables.

Part of the package is having your photograph taken with Cinderella on the first floor, then you go upstairs to the dining room.

During dinner the mice dance around and Fairy Godmother dances and sings, but no Princesses present.

The show with FG and the mice is a bit loud and it involves the lights flashing, and FG dancing between the tables randomly touching children (and sometimes adults) on the head with her wand. The mice seemed to make it to almost all the tables to kind flit about and then move on, occasionally lightly touching someones arm or chair.

You MAY be able to ask that FG and mice not approach your table (though logistically they may say they can't guarantee it of course), but I don't think there are any tables where you'd be shielded from the loud music/singing or the flashing lights. So it may not be a best choice for your son, unfortunately. It is VERY cool to be inside the castle eating while the fireworks are happening outside....you see the colored flashes of light outside the windows and hear the bangs.

picture with Cinderella it will seem less of an imposition on the boys.

We did dinner in the Castle as my son who is almost 9 was not that crazy about all the princesses and we had already booked the Princess Breakfast. The dinner was perfect. The boys get a sword when you check in and the photo with Cinderella is quick and painless - you could always have the photo with Cinderella not include the children and have you taken with her instead. The show is short and the characters are not imposing at all. My son loved eating the castle - definately one for the boys!
