What has been your experience with the weather in dec for the nassau and castaway stops? I don't want to spend the money to be cold. Is it warm enough to swim and in the sun?

Hi, we did the 7 day eastern over new year's two years ago and were disappointed because the weather was cold in the bahamas --- castaway cay. It was around 60 and the water was cold. I hated paying all that extra money to go on the holidays and then not being able to bask in the sun and swim. It was 85 degrees in st. thomas, however. Also, we had huge, almost 20 ft. swells at sea and the captain said that was normal for winter seas. Many were seasick. We usually go in the summer and now prefer that. We are venturing out and trying an Easter cruise in March, also on eastern. Hope the water in castaway will be warm and temperature too. Since that is one of our favorite places, we hate to miss out due to chilly weather.

thanks--since we are thinking about the shorter cruise on the Wonder that is what I am worried about. As much as we love the excellent service and shows I want warm weather.

We have cruised twice in December - but on the Magic but we did go to Castaway both times (01 & 02) it was warm and sunny and i do not remember anything specific about the water being cold either. Both cruises were also smooth - our roughest (not counting Alaska last year) was this past September on the Magic but that was courtesy of Jeanne.

I also understand your question/concern as I am sailing on the Wonder in February but - we will have a grand time, in or out of the water.

We were on this years NYE cruise. It was cool at the Port, but once underway it was plenty warm to walk the decks in shorts and Tee shirts. We only swam at Castaway Cay, and it was on the cool side, but not too cool to swim. And it rained in the afternoon. I was surprised how many people went back to the ship. Since we were already wet, it was not big deal. We took our rental bikes as far was we could in the rain.

We've been to Nassau and Castaway Cay the second week of December for the past two years. The first year, the weather at CC was sunny but a little cool, although we (all adults) did go in the water for a little while. It started raining just as we were getting ready to leave the beach.

Last year, the weather was AWESOME...warm, sunny, warm water...it was perfect.

It's been warm in Nassau both times, too. It's funny to me (being from New Jersey) to see Christmas decorations in such wonderful weather!

I'm hoping and praying that our weather next month repeats the weather we had last year!
