Castaway Club deals?

We are planning on booking a second Disney cruise for 2004. I did not book onboard the ship for two reasons. I wanted to see what pricing was available elsewhere, and the person sitting at the desk must have had a bad morning because she was so rude I would not have booked with her anyway.

I am price shopping right now, and would like to put down a deposit soon so we are committed to going (we happen to have the money at this time, but probably won't later).

Before I jump in and put down my $1000 I'd like to know if Disney offers special deals through Castaway Club that I might want to wait for? Or does DCL offer other booking bonuses that I should keep an eye out for? As much as I'd like to have the cruise booked, I don't want to feel like I jumped the gun and missed out, either.

What are the other benefits of Castaway Club besides the free gift? When do you get the Captain Mickey pin?

Thanks for any info! :)

No, there are no discounts for CC members....the only time you would have gotten a lower price is if you had booked while onboard. But, the again, DIS'ers have reported that have found less expensive prices than what was offered onboard.

Anyway, just check 4 or 5 different places, such as Disney, Costco, AAA, Dreams Unlimited, your local TA, etc.

Book with who you feel can work with you and you feel comfortable with, as well as for price reasons.

Just wondering if the CM you are referring to was on the wonder. I think her name was Carrol (not sure) . She was very nice to me but my wife did not seem to like her and allowed me to make all the arrangements for our next cruise. By the way if you book on board and then either find a better rate or special you can cancel your ressies no later than two months before the actual cruise date for a no questions asked full refund. The trick is not to pay in full up front.

From my experience the price was no better booking on board (which was 12 months out) then in booking with DU 9 months out. In fact in was cheaper to book thru DU and many others TA's and websites from my research.

The price offered on board was the same price I receied from DU for our Nov 2003 cruise. By not booking on board we missed out on the $200 stateroom credit. Dreams SOMETIMES offers stateroom credits as well as their rebates. Well, I watched the price of my cruise, and sure enough I got lucky and Dreams did offer the stateroom credit. I jumped on it and got $100 credit, in addition to the $100 rebate. I'm down $100, but I'm all set for November. I suggest going with Dreams, I've used them twice now, and wouldn't hesitate to use them in the future!!! Actually, I have in my request with them for the Christmas 2004 sailing!!!!
