when booking our Jan and may cruise they mentioned something about a cocktail party and a free gift? does anyone have any info on this? thanks a bunch Julie:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

You will be given an invitation for the reception after boarding. Our gift was waiting for us in our cabin when we boarded -- this time it was a Castaway Club beach towel. Last cruise (our first as Castaway Club members) it was a tote/sports bag.

Ironically, I was counting on another sports bag last week for souvenirs. I bought a really big zippered bag for $16 in the Treasure Ketch gift shop that rolls up and snaps into a small package when not in use. It holds A LOT!

We didn't receive our beach towel last week on our 3 night cruise of 11/7. Anyone we can contact now or is it too late??? Sure would like the towel.

SusanU....did you mention to the reservations people that you were a member of the CAstaway Club. You must mention it to them when making your ressie or it's not noted on the reservation...it is not automatic. I do not know if you would be able to get one now. I guess you call the CClub and see what they say.

Julie....the cocktail party is very nice....They served tropical drinks and have a buffet set up with appetizer type foods. The Captain and senior officers are there to talk to people.

Here is a link to the Castaway Club Beach Towel offered as the free gift.

I was really impressed by the castaway club reception! The food was much better and more substantial than I expected (i'm not sure what I expected but it was appetizer type stuff and very very good). Free drinks also, only hubby and I don't drink and this one waiter insisted on calling our "virgin bahama mamas" "fruit punch"!!! I prefer virgin bahama mama, makes me feel like more of an adult. In either case, it was nice. You have some snacks and crew comes around to socialize. Then the cruise director and the captain give a little talk. It was nice enough that we are going to plan to arrive a little more hungry than we did (could barely taste a couple of things because we'd just hit scoops!)

Looking forward to this. Is the reception on the first day (3-day Wonder)? Is it adults only or for families? Thanks!

Thanks for all the info, it's great. my Dh and i had no idea what it was we just knew it was a perk because we have sailed before. Our escape from the Dkids is turning into a ultimate vacation, between the cheap price and then the upgraded room now a free cocktail party. with everything going so good im nervous something bad will happen like a BLIZZARD the day we are suppose to go. SHAKING SHAKING STRESS!

kasar....it is for families...they have fruit punch for the kids. They ask that you bring your invitation with you to the reception, but we have met our teens in there on various cruises because they were coming from other activities and had no problem getting in once they said their parents were already in there.

Ours (November 7th 3-day) was on the last day from 5:15 until 6:00. We were a bit rushed because we had first seating for dinner and had to run to Parrot Cay straight from the reception.

Maybe ours was around 5:00. I know we left there and went to Disney Dreams.

Last time we sailed we almost missed it because it was on the first day! Between the ressie rush, sailaway party and safety drill it was a bit much. That was a couple of years ago - glad to hear it appears to have been moved. Anyone know when it usually is on the 7 day Western?

Deb,

According to my August navigators from our Western cruise, the CC Cocktail Party was on Monday (at sea) from 4:00 pm to 4:45 pm in Off Beat and Rockin Bar D.

Should we be dressed in cocktail attire, or is it casual dress?

That info is great. As for dress what we've seen in the past is folks dressed for dinner. With the timing late in the afternoon it is off to either dinner and evening activities or show then dinner.

We have sailed before but never got a cc card or anything. I called about 3 weeks ago and asked them to send me one and that we were cruising again on 1/25. Should I do more? We would like to go to the party and receive gifts.

You don't actually need the card to be a CC member. Just call DCL directly and ask them to have your CC number noted on your reservation. If you don't know your CC number, they should be able to give it to you or tell you who to call to get it.

Good luck!
