Castaway Cay with Kids Question

Looking for some help here...and please...don't judge! We have been to Castaway Cay a couple of times, but have always kept our kids with us the entire time. Here's the problem...we really don't enjoy the BBQ buffet and want very badly to try the Serenity Bay buffet instead. My wish would be to ditch the kids for lunch, run over to Serenity Bay for lunch, then pick the kids right up afterwards. Have any of you done this before? Here's the main problem...I have a tween who will be 12 at the time of the trip. Where does he go if he's in the Edge the rest of the trip? Do they feed the younger kids (age 8) in the kids program, or would we need to feed the kids before or afterwards?
Thanks in advance for help, and please don't judge us for ditching the kids for better food!

A 12 year old CAN still be in the Oceaneer's club/lab, so they could probably go to Scuttle's Cove, too.

I don't think they feed them. So you would need to feed them first.

But...aren't the buffets the same?

We just happened to be picking our kids up at the time when they were getting ready for lunch, so I know they do serve lunch to the kids in Scuttles Cove.

Hi I am a YA Counselor. Of course the kids can stay with us all day if they want! We serve lunch. The 12 year old can be with us or if he prefers Edge he can go to Edge programming at Castaway too :)

The buffets are mostly the same. If it is a 7 night cruise and there is lobster left over from the night before they may have it on Serenity Bay also with any left over steak but for the most part it is the same.

Thanks for the replies! What kind of food is served in the kid's programming on Castaway?

Good to know they serve food. DS wasn't impressed with scuttles cove. Said there was no water, even. And his food experiences at the club/lab have been weird, too. (They called and left a message on the room phone verifying he was vegetarian bc he wanted the cheese sandwich and wouldn't let him have it until we replied? He decided he wasn't hungry bc we didn't get that message until we got him and returned to the room. And other times when we had gotten him food before dropping him off there they haven't believed him and discouraged the non eating kids from doing anything)

So his info on food at Cove being sketchy is no surprise lol.
