Our last couple cruises my daughter has tried parasailing and it has always been canceled due to rough weather. I know Jet Skis would be the same issue.
Has anyone done the Jet Skis recently? How much time do you spend and is it fun?
We did the wave runner tour on CC 5/21 (the $180 one). It frankly was a better ride than I expected. We completely encircled the island, went out near a couple of others and generally had a very nice ride. The machines are somewhat rough compared to what you would rent offsite, but were plenty adequate. And buzzing the Dream at water level 2 times was kinda cool. Sorta pricey- you can rent a nicer, newer ski in So. FL for $80/hr, but for where you are it was good.
Vlogger Michael Kay did both parasailing and jetskis on one Castaway Cay day, and if I remember correctly, he thought jetskis a better experience as it lasts longer and it is more active. It's one hour, 15 minutes safety drill and 45 minutes on the water, I think.
We did the double wave rider in 2016 and really enjoyed it. I think the whole tour was about an hour. It was really cool to see the back side of CC and as a PP said, being that close to the ship at water level is super cool. Really puts into perspective how big it is.
When we got to the back side of the island there is a small beach they stop at and tell you about the island and some of the sea life. They make one more stop on the way back.
Our tour guides had us going WIDE OPEN, so, especially on the way back when the waves picked up, it was quite bouncy. I was actually sore the next day, but really didn’t care. It was a blast! My kids (10 & 11 at the time) absolutely loved it.
We only stopped once - on a beach/sandbar on the other side of the island. We found several live conchs, starfish, and sand dollars which was cool. The ride itself was awesome and we would love to do it again. I signed up for one person, but myself and daughter checked in without issues. They were all double jet-skis.
Yes, you can just add the names when you show up on the beach. That’s the part I don’t like about DCL’s update to this excursion online. There is no explanation of how the process works to add the second person to each wave runner.
We did Parasailing back in 2010 and it was so awesome. My 2 sons and me went on this together, ages 16 and 12, at the time. The sensation of being airborne was nothing I ever experience, complete and utter silence/quite.
I was afraid to do it, but would do again in a heartbeat!
That same trip DH and youngest son, tandem on a wave runner. They had a blast.
We will be back at CC all together this January and my sons are talking about do the Wave runners.
The last time I went on the wave runners at CC was Sept 2017 my machine was a dog. It ended up giving out and had to be towed back. We had one sink in our group. The poor older lady had a heck of a time getting into the boat that followed us. I complained as did the others. The next cruise in May of last year people said they were still in rough condition.
