For anyone that has done the Castaway Cay Jet Ski Excursion in the last few weeks, I assume that you sign up for it at the shore excursion desk on deck 4? When can you (should you) go to sign up? (First thing on board, after spa reservations, etc.) Does this thing sell out very fast, or is it still relatively unknown, and therefore not as quick to sell out?

I'm thinking about signing up for this as a father-son adventure with my eleven-year old, and I'm just wondering how hard it will be to get... :boat:

My hubby did this last friday. We booked it the first day at the shore excursion desk. They offered a bunch of time slots. I don't think it sold out because in my husbands group, there were only 2 other people, and I noticed a lot of the wave runners not being used.

Personally if I were you (JMHO), I'd try and book spa and Palo first. I don't think the excursion sells out as fast because it is so new.

My husband LOVED this. You only have to be 8 to ride it and 16 (with authorization from parent) to drive it.
It was 95.00 Single and 160.00 for Double. The excursion was called 'Personal Watercraft Tour' DH says it was a blast!

Happy Planning!:earsgirl:

are these the type of jet skis you stand on, or sit on? how experienced do you have to be with a jet ski to do this excursion?

You sit on them. So I guess it's called a wave runner.

They have a short safety meeting for about 10-15 mins where you read rules, common sense stuff prior to tour.

I don't think you have to have any prior experience. The first time I ever rode one I had no problems, just fun.

I was hoping that was the case, as I have never been on one in my life! Thanks for the information, DreaminDisney. It sounds like a lot of fun, and has moved from a "definite maybe" on my planning list to a "probably with a leaning toward definitely." ::yes::

You can call 60 days in advance to reserve shore excursions. We did it and had no problems; the tickets were waiting in our room when we arrived, and we didn't have to waste a moment of cruise time standing in line.

Is this one different for some reason?

This one is so new that you curently only reserve it once on board.
Not that that keeps me from calling every other day just to be sure that they haven't changed it yet ;)

My sister and I did it on the spur of the moment on the easter cruise (4/10-4/17). We just walked up to the place where they do the safety meeting and signed up for the next time spot. It was the best thing we did the entire cruise!! I think it doesn't generally sell out because it is a bit pricey. Totally worth it though!

How long is it?? Is it an organized "follow the leader" tour?

When we went on the banana boat they asked us if we wanted to do the Jet Ski tour since they had a lot of open space for it. I had asked if we would be able to sort of cut loose out there on them and they told us no that it was a tour and they didn't zip around so we didn't do it.

It's an hour long. When we were told it was a guided tour, DH said he didn't want to do it but did it anyway. It ended up being the best excursion. You do go way out there and you go pretty fast.::yes::

We went this past Friday. It cost 160.00 for a double (2 people on one) I believe it was $90.00 for a single. It is pricey, but I thought it was worth it. I heard people complain that you couldn't do your own thing and go fast. I thought we went pretty fast, and I'm an adrenaline (sp?) junkie.

Are they really sticky about the age for driving the wave runners? We have three children, DD 13, DD 11, DS 9 (ages at time of trip). If the 13 year old isn't old enough to drive, we won't be able to go on this tour. It really sounds like a lot of fun.
