Has anyone been to Castaway Cay in the rain? If so, was there any fun to be had? I know my luck... the rain always follows me on vacation!

We had rain when we were there in August. Everyone just kept one doing what they were doing like it wasn't even raining. We figured, your at the beach....your gonna get wet!

it did rained on august trip but it was pretty fast

We did visit Castaway Cay in the rain.... downpours. It was in May and it was a rather cool rain.. and it sure was wet. Rain ponchos were being handed out as we were getting off of the ship.. and I'd have to say that most stayed on the ship.. or were under the lunch pavilions to keep dry. It was not the most pleasant Castaway Cay experience but this was our 4th cruise with Disney so we made the best of it. The rain did take away some of the magic of the island.... but Castaway Cay is never anything less than beautiful.

Thankfully this hasn't happened yet. But to tell you the truth, if it rained, as long as it wasn't a dangerous one I'd dtill go to the beach. as someone above said you're gonna get wet! :)

Did they do the parasailing in the rain? (assuming no lightning, of course)

I'd say yes, as it would just be like a big umbrella.

It depends on the rain. Our first visit to CC was bright and sunny. The next one was overcast, cloudy, and drizzle. People continued doing their normal beach activities, but they would not let anyone raise the beach umbrellas.

But this year in July, the storm that hit was so violent that they cleared the beaches. MANDATORY. (HEAVY rain, lightning, wind). It POURED for at least 1.5 hours. Most people cleared out and headed back to the ship soaking wet. We took cover in the bathroom (DW, DS13, adn DD8) and waited it out, then returned to a deserted beach for the last 2 hours of our CC stay.

It rained on us 3 weeks ago. We got off the boat thinking "it'll stop soon" Well, an hour and a half later it did. We did like above and took cover in the bathrooms. When it stopped, though, we had priority seating! I can't remember why, but we couldn't snorkel at first until about 30 minutes after the rain had died down.

In an August cruise a big storm came up and the wind really blew, then the rains came - huge downpour and sideways rain because of the wind. Then the lightning started! Well that was the end of everyones day at the cay. The got us all out of the water and off of the beach as quickly as possible and told us to go back to the ship because the storm was gaining strength. Since it was in the afternoon we only lost an hour or so at Castaway Cay. It still was a Magical time.

BTW: In the morning we had NO clue that this would happen, clear, sunny blue skys, gentle ocean breazes - absolutly perfect!!

It rained in October at CC, after lunch. The storm poured for a while, soaking everything, no lightning but we were already in the water. The rain was falling so hard, it seemed like it was raining up! You could see that it was a fairly narrow front. Most everyone stayed. The front moved off across the ocean. The sun came back out and dried things somewhat. The bonus was a huge rainbow that lasted for the whole time we left and it lasted for the hour the ship turned and reset it's navigation as we held off the shore at CC.

If there isn't any lightning cloudy days can make for incredible snorkeling. The night feeding fish come out. We snorkeled one January at Anse Noir in Martinique during lousy, dark rainy weather. The fans and sponges were out, we saw schools of squid, an octopus and fish we had only seen pictures of before. It was phenomenal. Take a dry t-shirt, a poncho and a towel in a plastic bag to change into after to get warmed. The hardest part was everyone was so cold, bladders did not function in the cold water and the head on the dive boat had a loooonnnnngggg line once everyone reboarded.

it also rained on us as CC 2 years ago. the rain passed fairly quickly and we were lucky enough to be eating lunch under cover so we got a little wet from the wind blowing the rain in sideways. It lasted about 45 min then the sun returned and everything dried out quickly. I think CC is beautiful rain or shine!::MinnieMo ::MinnieMo ::MinnieMo

We didn't have rain but we did have hail! Two years ago, February, we were pelted with huge hailstones around 3:00. We ran like heck to get back to the ship and boy, did those things sting, especially on our fragile, sun-burned skin. Thankfully, it was towards the end of the day so we didn't miss much.

2 years ago it rained on us most of the day in october. they were handing out umbrellas at the front of the ship but not the back where we were exiting. I wish I brougt a ziplock bag with me to keep our towels dry. thank god we got an umbrella to at least put them under that. since it was not a heavy rain we still did snorkeling since you are getting wet anyway. It wasn't a great day there but at least we got to experience CC. then my husband ended up getting a bad cold but since it was the end of the trip it was ok. it rained for several hours and than had about 1 1/2 hrs with out.

We saw the rain coming in over the ocean. DH and I were on the adult beach. The air got cool and then it just started to POUR!!

It rained HARD (but no thunder) for about 15 minutes.

And then it was done, and it got warm again.

We huddled on our beach chairs under our umbrella. I was glad I had a couple of extra towels, I wrapped up in them when it got chilly (the rain was COLD!)

Some of the other adults just stayed in the water, where they remained warm (the ocean water was a lot warmer than the rain).

I only recall seeing a couple of people leave the beach right before the rain started. It was about 1:30, maybe 2:00, so a lot of good "CC" time left. I'm glad we stuck it out :)
