Castaway Cay Cabana worth it with a 10 month old and 2,5 year old?

Hello cruisers,

I will be on a 5 night Cruise in january (first DCL cruise) with my DW, 10 month old DS and 2,5 year old DD and my parents. I was wondering, if I am able to get one, which is another issue, is a family cabana worth it? My DS wil need to nap and probably my DD, so I was thinking the cabanas with the fan would be nice instead of heading back to our rooms.

I think a multi-generational family (like yours) is probably the best use of the cabanas. Especially with young kids. Good luck.

I would want a cabana even more if traveling with a baby and small child. It's a shady place to nap, a home base on the island.

Your situation is perfect for a cabana. You'll be able to get a Pack & Play for your youngest and your daughter can nap on one of the comfy padded chairs or couch.

All the reasons you you've listed are why we lived having a cabana for our first two trips. Good luck!

The Cabana Family beach is less busy for the kids because it is limited only to cabana members. Also be aware they can be difficult to get on the larger ships.

OMG yes, it's the best with small kids. Our first ever cabana our grandkids were 1 and 3 it was great to get them out of the sun for a while and naps. It would have been hard to spend the entire day there without the cabana. They both napped and the adults got to relax too .

if you decide against a cabana (or can't get one), I suggest near the snorkeling entrance to the left of the bathrooms (if facing the water). Even at 10am on Easter break and summer, there were still umbrellas/chairs in the 2nd row from the beach. There is plenty of shade and it did not feel that crowded. It's near the bathrooms and close to the food, and not far from Pelican Plunge. We have had 3 umbrellas with 8 chairs for multi-gen trip.

are you by chance, in concierge? if so, put in a request to concierge (i'll find you the email address if you need it)..
they reserved our cabana for us (on the adult beach, but that's what we asked for)..

i wouldn't have taken a cabana for just DH and me....but i took my elderly mom and my sister (with ovarian cancer) on the Dream a few years back..
i figured the cabana would be really nice for them...as it turned out, it was perfect for them and worth every penny..

for the same reason, i think it would be great for your multi-generational family!!!
