We have just booked a Cabana on Castaway Cay, anybody else done this and is it worth the money? DW and DS are very light skinned so the shade alone will be a big plus, the semi private set up is also appealing.

i have one booked for october...
last time we were on a disney cruise, they hadn't built the cabanas yet..

i figured it would be great for my 85 year old mom (who hates sand) and my 62 year old sister with cancer who adores lying on the beach...so i thought this would be better for her - providing her some shade...

since we're all adults, i took one on serenity bay, but had i been with my family (DH, DD and DS) i would have taken one on the family beach..

i think they sound fantastic!!

a perfect place to hang out in between doing other activities (like pelican plunge, etc)..

and at the family beach , you have that private beach in front of the cabanas which is fantastic!!

and remember that you get some things included, so the price isn't as high as it seems...
you get snorkeling equipment included, plus floats (that you would have to rent otherwise) and also a one hour bike rental for each person (we loved biking on CC)....plus sand toys..

not to mention the drinks, snacks, towels and cold towels....

and not to mention the cabana itself...

i think it's a bargain!!

It is soooooooo worth the price.:thumbsup2 We did a B2B cruise last October and my wife was able to get one and we will do it again on our next cruise. We are a family of six and had Cabana #7 arrived first thing in the morning and was greeted by the CM there. He took us to our Cabana and it was beautiful. We had a small fridge filled with fruit, cold drinks and cold towels. There are buckets of toys for the kids and sunscreen for you to use all day long. We did nothing but sit in the water while all our kids played too. Lunch was a small walk down to Cookies and back to the Cabana with our lunch. They even take your plates away for you. My wife and I had a couple of drinks after lunch just sitting in the Cabana just relaxing as our kids played and floated in the water.
It was just so perfect, the weather, the water and you just couldn't have asked for a better day. You do have free rentals of bikes and I believe snorkeling equipment but we were having so much fun at the beach we never left the Cabana. At the end of the day they'll take you back to the tram stop so you don't even need to worry about the walk back.
Now that I've wrote all this I need to go back... Have a great cruise and enjoy the Cabana...

Number 6 is exactly the one I would book if we were on the family beach!

Now I'm even more excited! Can not wait! Still can't believe we got one at 90 days out, lots of posts saying they are usually booked out by the Gold and Platinum Castaway Cay members ( We are Silver)

Sounds like we got lucky! If this cruise goes well, it may become a staple of our itinerary! , this is the first time we have cruised with children.
