Castaway Cay 5K

Just got off the Fantasy yesterday and wanted to let people know that they still have a limited number of medals. The employees working the bike rental believe that the Fantasy is the only ship with 5K medals remaining. The concierge staff also noted that they have a few, in case you miss them on the island. 5K merchandise still seems readily available. Teps were brutal on Friday, but quite a few people still did the run.

Following love to hear a recent update! I heard a rumor there is a new medal design out but haven’t gotten confirmation.

Was on the 9/19 sailing on the Dream. Ran the 5k on thursday the 22nd. They seemed to have plenty of medals. The design was the same that I received in 2019.

We did not run on our 9/5 cruise. it was really, really warm. I did not see many running and we were off the ship early. Plenty of merchandise though at the shop by the bikes.

We just got back on Saturday.
We did the 5K..and they had the medals.

Hurray! So it looks like they aren't scrapping this as an event, but just were in the in-between stages of getting new medals/using up the old supply

I'm not sure if this is a weird question or not, but here goes - if we get on board in 21 days, and are able to sign up for the 5k event on Castaway Cay, get off the boat to do the event, and then one of us just isn't feeling it for whatever reason, are they just going to say NOPE, GO STAND OVER THERE AND WAIT WITH THE REST OF THE PEOPLE to get off the boat? I'm worried that if we start the walk, and I'm not feeling up to it, I would just drop out and wait for DH to do his walk.

Also - what time do you typically get off the boat to participate in the 5k vs. just waiting to be off as early in the morning as the non-runners can get off? Again, no idea, first stab at this experience.

I know I'm asking a lot of questions lately, thanks for your patience. I've never done this 5k, just virtual ones. DH does them all the time, I don't want to take away from his experience.

They don't let you off the ship any earlier. You get off whenever you want and run it whenever you want. They also don't have an official start time anymore post pandemic restart, just head over, run it and then get your medal after.

I saw they (DCL) recently posted theres a new medal for the 5k and new trivia ones. Is there anyone who has gone in the last 2 weeks who can confirm? I board the wish next week.
