I remember someone mentioning there are one or two cats living on Castaway Cay. I just returned, but didn't see any cats. Has anyone seen them lately?

I know they were hoping to get them off of the island before the Hurricanes.....don't know if they did.........

I asked two of the CM's that worked in the bahamas shops near the hair braiding. . . one said they were fine, and the other said they had not been seen. This was on the Thanksgiving week cruise. :guilty:

The only cat we have ever seen is "Tipper" - who is missing part of his ear. He is a regular at Cookie's BBQ tent. I am sure that he "hunkered" down somewhere safe and survived, but it would be nice to get that confirmed.

I asked on our last cruise and no one knew...gonna ask again when we cruise for Christmas. No sign of either cat at Thanksgiving.

I asked the guy last week that rents the sailboats and he said there are several and they are rarely seen. They are wild cats, not pets.

The one cat that I saw was not very wild. It was quite friendly actually.

Tipper is very friendly and eats from the hand when fed. I don't think she is wild at all and is, in fact, someone's pet but no one wants to take the responsibility!! After all, she just didn't swim over from another island!!

I sailed last Feb, and saw the cat going around the tables in Cookies BBQ. This last Cruise Dec 9, did not see any cats, had my eye out for them. I too would like to know if they are on the Island. :cool1:

There are two that are definitely more pet than wild. One of them cracked me up...I offered him hamburger and he refused it, but he was more than willing to eat the piece of lobster burger that someone else offered him! Both of them enjoyed petting too.

My dog prefers lobster meat also. These animals are spoiled rotten, Barb!!!! They know the "good stuff"!

We saw one hanging out near Cookies in the middle of November. Looked pretty healthy to me.

We had asked on our October cruise...we were the first back after Jeanne, so I figured they'd either still be "hiding" or perhaps the storms were too much. The CM I spoke with said she'd seen one or two around, but not as many as there used to be. I don't think she held them in quite as much favor as we do, she described them as "the wild cats". The one cat we met in 2002 was a sweetie....but he was missing half an ear, so he must have been a bit of rough house!

I'd post a picture, but I cannot find my photo box :earseek:
