Castaway 5K

Are they currently doing the Castaway Cay 5K? Also, does the jogging deck on the Fantasy wrap all the way around the ship like it does on the Magic and Wonder? Anyone know the distance per lap?

o, they're not yet doing the 5K. Yes, all ships have the jogging track wrapped around the ship. Unfortunately, I do not know the distance per lap, sorry.

On the 8/9 sailing, they offered the CC 5K but not in the traditional form. You could run it on your own then get a medal, I believe at Guest Services.

The distance per lap on the Dream/Fantasy is 8 laps = 5k.

Thank you everyone for your responses!! I have a race 1 week after the cruise so I just want to get some short runs in. Plus it’s somewhat thrilling to run onboard a moving ship!

Just be aware there will be people on the deck who aren't running (or even paying attention), so be careful.

If you run after 8 am, colliding with people is on you.

If you run before 7 am, it's on people who feel they gotta walk taking up the entire pathway in a big group.

Between 7 and 8 am? It's Festivus and feats of strength to determine fault.

I usually run pretty early and I actually walk more than I run. Didn’t have any issue on the Magic.

Does the ship have to announce that medals are available does anyone know, or are they just available on every sailing?

Agree with posters above. We ran it on our own (on Castaway Cay) and requested medals at guess services. Not sure if they give medals for running it on the ship but I may do that next time just to change things up.

it’s a lot of fun running on the boat, I just give people a light holler as I approach and they move aside.

From what I've read its the same as it was back last year - no formal sign up or meet place but you can do it and then go to the bike rental shack to get your medal

That by January it goes back to a group walk out/formal start as I had so much fun in 2018 recycling one of my RunDisney costumes for the event

Since there is not a proper jogging track on the Wish my husband and I are planning to do the 5K... is the route still marked? We've only managed it once... (we planned to do it a second time, but we got into port late that day by a couple hours so we bagged it).

Some "valiant" individuals in my family are planning to do it next week (I laughed at them - I'm 1 and Done for the 5K) - so I'll bring back updates if no one has anything before then.
