I was hoping a cast member would tell me what the % discount they receive is on a room only reservation. My friend is starting at WDW (attractions) in September and asked me to come for a visit in November. He said he thinks the discount is 50%-sounds a bit high to me. Also, is there a "waiting period" or probationary period before he can make that first discounted ressie?

thanks:thumbsup2

When my friend worked at the Disney Store (when it was actually owned by Disney) her discount was 50% on room only reservations. Needless to say, we went a lot.

It can be as much as 50% on room only...depends on availability...and the cast member must be there to check you in...

Thanks! Does anyone know if he will be able to book the room right away after being hired or must he wait a period of time?

I don't know about a waiting period - sorry!

It also depends on the time of year you go & there are "limited" rooms available (sort of like with a PIN code) - at least from my understanding. A couple of times there were no discounts at Value resorts, so we stayed moderate. I think the closer they get, they open up more rooms for CM discounts if they aren't booked up. When my BIL gets us rooms, he also sometimes can't book as far out. I think his discount is about 40%, but it may have changed (or again, just may vary by when we go).

They DO have to check you in, but I *believe* (at least last summer when we went) they just have to show their ID at the front desk within 7 days of your arrival date (sometime in that week before you get there, or AT check-in). BIL couldn't meet us at check-in last year, but his ID was on file, so we were A-OK. :thumbsup2

Enjoy that discount - it's awesome! So is the free park admission! ;)

Does this CM discounts also apply to Swan/Dolphin?

Nope, only applies to non-suite rooms that are Disney owned and operated. Also, if your friend is staying in the room it would be at the rates stated, but if not, it's typically 25-40% depending on occupancy. Your friend can book as soon as he/she has access to the Hub. I think I also replied to your same question on WDW Magic.

I just booked (I am a disney store cm) and I got 50% off my room at AKL. You can book as soon as you get hired. you have to still be working there at the time of your stay and you must show ID. The rooms are limited...I couldn't stay in a Savannah room but for the prce we are paying, who cares!
