What do you all think is the best? The Casista's, Cabana's, or Rancho's in CSR? Also, how do you get the one you want? Do you request it, or is it an option when booking online? Thanks in advance.

We personally like the Casitas 5 area. About a 5 minute walk back to El Centro (for food, drinks, shopping), about a 5-7 minute walk over to the feature pool that has a hot tub, water slide/playground/arcade area for the kids, and a 1-2 minute walk out to the first pickup bus stop. We went after the Easter crowd last 2010 and always got a seat on the buses. I think I remember sometimes the people that were at the cabanas bus stop had to split their party up and sit anywhere they could on the bus. Each area has its own quiet pool as well so if you want to lay out and swim in a less crowded pool, each area will have that as well. Can't wait....we are headed back to CSR at Easter this year. I am not looking forward to the crowded lines at the parks but oh well at least we will be at Disney.

You can make a request when you book the room. Casitas 1, 2 and 3 are preferred rooms, so they are a separate booking category.

Pros/cons of each section:

Casitas are closest to the main building and convention center. The casitas bus stop (stop #2) is the first stop picked up and dropped off to/from the parks. I think the casitas are the prettiest and most romantic. They are a bit farther to the main pool/hot tub/arcade/volleyball court. The fourth floor of casita 2 is (somewhat) affectionately referred to as no-man's-land. Casita 2 does not have its own elevator - it shares one with casita 1 (which also has another elevator near the convention center). The elevator doesn't go to the fourth floor. :confused3 So you can either walk up the stairs from the third floor or take the casita 3 elevator to the fourth floor and walk over. Strange and annoying, but probably only a real problem if you have a stroller or mobility problems. Casitas 4 and 5 are great non-preferred locations.

Cabanas - our personal favorite, because we travel with kids and spend more of our resort time at the Dig Site pool than at El Centro. Sandy beaches, hammocks (you'll also find hammocks near the casitas), very close to the pool, and the third bus stop picked up on the way to the parks (stop #4). Can be very close to pool, very close to El Centro, or centrally located.

Ranchos - most remote, quietest. Can be close to the pool or far away from everything. Long (ten minute) walk to El Centro. Bus stop #3 is the second stop picked up. Rancho 6A is close to the bus stop but far from everything else. Rancho 7B is close to the Dig Site, Ranchos quiet pool and laundry. 7B is not a bad location. 7A and 6B can be sort of close to the Dig Site and/or bus stop, but it depends where you are in the building. Ranchos is best if you want a very quiet area and don't mind walking.

You can make your request at booking, and you can request a change at check-in if you don't like your area and they have something else. On one trip, we were assigned casita 2, but we switched to cabana 9A because we wanted to be closer to the pool. 8A is my favorite building - very close to the bus stop and very close to the Dig Site.

Happy planning! :goodvibes

I preferred the Casitas 5 area. My DH and DD preferred the Cabanas section. The whole resort is lovely to me and some day I would like to try the Ranchos so I have experience in each area.

Put a request in when you make your room reservation.

We just got back from our first stay at CSR and really enjoyed it. We were in Ranchos 7B facing the quiet pool. We were just around the corner from Bus Stop 4 and the Dig Site was very close. It was fairly quiet and we rarely saw anyone else except in the quiet pool.

But it was quiet a hike to El Centro to refill our mugs. My husband resorted to driving over every morning for coffee and soft drinks because it was so far and the temps were pretty chilly. Had the refillable mugs not been included in our free dining plan, we wouldn't have gotten our money's worth.

The next time we stay at CSR, we're going to request Cabanas 9B. It's close to El Centro and Bus Stop 1 and just a quick walk to the Dig Site.

I prefer Cabanas, because of being part way between the Dig Site and El Centro. CSR is my favorite Moderate!

I really like the location of the Cabanas. We stayed at CSR last May. I requested Cabanas but ended up in Ranchos. I believe we were in 6A. It was nice to be close to the bus stop and the Dig Site, but the walk to El Centro was pretty bad. We will be returning to CSR in 10 days. I requested Cabanas when I made my reservation. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

We liked the Cabanas.

Its just different themes. Ranchos are way in the back.

CSR is our favorite mod resort.

I love CSR, but have an absolute fear of being stuck out in the Ranchos. I've been assigned out there a couple of times, but thus far have been lucky enough to have the check in CM move me to my beloved Cabanas. I've been in Casitas 1 once, Casitas 2 once, Cabanas 9B twice, Cabanas 9A twice, and Cabanas 8A twice. Cabanas 8A is my favorite location and where I'm hoping to be when I'm there in May. When I booked I had the CM put in a request for 'first floor Cabanas with a preference for 8A'.

We are staying at CSR for the first time for 6 days before our cruise in September. We will have a rental car but we would like rooms close to the bus stop since our group will be splitting up part of the time. Close to the pool and/or hot tubs is a priority, but El Centro is not a priority since we will have a rental to pick up soda/water/snacks off site and not on the dining plan this time since we are using YES tickets.

I think relaxing in a hammock alone with DH in the evening would be a great way to relax in the evening after a busy day.

Any ideas what to request?? TIA

Each section has its own bus stop. For park buses, casitas are picked up first, then ranchos, cabanas, and finally El Centro. For Downton Disney, El Centro is picked up first, then casitas, ranchos and finally cabanas. Buildings closest to the Dig Site are cabanas 8A and 8B and Ranchos 7B. Both the cabanas and the casitas have hammocks.

8A and 7B are very close to the Dig Site. 8A is closer to the cabanas bus stop, while 7B is close to the ranchos quiet pool and laundry. You can just request "close to Dig Site" unless you want to specify cabanas for the hammocks. :goodvibes

I would not book a preferred room - they are close to El Centro but not close to the Dig Site.

We've only stayed at CSR once, and despite requesting anywhere in the Cabanas, when we checked in at practically 2AM, it was Ranchos or nothing. We had inconsiderate next door neighbors who liked to smoke, and no amount of complaining could get them to cease. After 24 hours, I couldn't take it anymore, and begged to be moved ANYWHERE. Still no Cabanas available, so they put us in Casitas 1 (which was technically an upgrade to a preferred location.) We did like the upscale feel of the Casitas, and the proximity to El Centro, but it was quite a hike to the Dig Site. I still think that the Cabanas offer the best location at CSR - good proximity to both the Dig Site and El Centro.

Definitely Cabanas. We had a room in Cabanas 8A last time and it was the perfect location (Room 8257). It was 1/2 way between the Dig Site and the parking lot/bus stop. It was perfect! A one minute (if that) walk in either direction. Even better...we couldn't hear a thing from our room and we were there President's week when it was jammed. (We are early to bed and early to risers.) We are heading back in April and are hoping for a room in 8A again. :thumbsup2

I vote for Cabana's. We actually made a request for Casista's and when we checked in she apologized and said she couldn't give us Casista's but would find us a great room. We had Cabana's 8A and it was the PERFECT location. It was right between El Centro and the Pool, right across from the quiet pool and right around the corner from the bus stop. If we stay again, we will surely request that section!!

Enjoy your trip!

Thanks everyone I will request 8A or 7B - I know I may not get what I ask for but maybe I will get some pixie dust!! pixiedust:

We stayed in Cabanas 8B and loved the location. We had a quiet pool right outside our room, a bus stop extremely close by and the dig site and El Centro were just over a five minute walk, just under ten at a leisurely pace. ;)

We're hoping to get the same section when we go this year. :goodvibes

We were in Casitas our last trip. I was glad not to be in ranchos cause it seemed a little too far away from the food court. I think I would prefer Cabanas the best. It seemed nice and quiet over there (was a little noisy at night in Casitas due to a convention party).
