Casinos & smoke

I assume they don't want smokers to stop gambling to go outside to smoke -that's probably why most don't go entirely smoke free.

I'm surprised that anyone is trying to force the casinos on reservation land to go smoke-free. I thought that the whole idea was that the people there could set their own laws, excluding capital crimes of course.

We've only gone to the casinos in Shreveport a few times. One is quite smoky for some reason but I don't notice it in the other casinos.

I'm not even suggesting that the casinos go smoke-free entirely, although that would be fine with me. I just wonder why they don't all have separate sections because it seems like that would make everybody happy.

I'm sure since Atlantic City council just voted to ban smoking on all casino floors beginning Oct. 15 (casinos can build smoking lounges w/no gaming), everyone will be watching closely to see what happens to revenues.

AC has had a turndown since the slot parlors/casinos opened in Pennsylvania, from what I heard they are considering a ban also.

I think this only the beginning. With the exception of Indian-owned reservation casinos, more casinos will do this. Las Vegas won't be far behind!

I personally can't wait!!!! :woohoo:

If there was money to be made in smoke free casinos they'd be making it. Every detail in their operation is geared towards profit.

:thumbsup2 WE GOT A WINNER HERE

I hope you are right! I would love to see Vegas go smoke-free.

anyone know if the ones in PA are smoke free??

I like to go on cruises, the casinos on ships are VERY smoky and packed with gamblers, however once a week they have a non smoking night and on those nights you could fire a cannon through the casino, it is a ghost town.

I'm surprised about that also. You would think someone in Las Vegas, for example, would open a 'smoke free' casino. I was on a riverboat casino that was smoke-free; very nice.

They did have one at one time. It went out of business. It was a smaller one down at the South end of the Strip. It was called the Klondike, went out of business years ago. I've always wandered why they never tried again more recently.

A co-worker and I were just discussing this earlier this week. We go to Mississippi casinos 3 or 4 times a year and we've noticed that although many of them do have a non-smoking section (Isle of Capri in Biloxi is the specific casino we were discussing), there is hardly ever anyone in them. My co-worker, who is a non-smoker, said that she just never seems to win in the non-smoking area and that other non-smokers have told her the same thing. So they only retreat to that area when they need a break from the smoke.

As a smoker, I wouldn't spend much time inside if I had to take a break to go outside every time I wanted a cigarette. I love going to the casinos, but I know of enough private poker games that I would survive without going to the casino if they went non-smoking. I already play in a regular game at least once a week and a tournament once a month. I can lose my money anywhere!

Casinos typically have very high ceilings and are extremely well ventilated. As a smoker, I wish they would all have non-smoking areas, so that everyone could be happy. The truth is though, that I am well aware that many non-smokers will never be happy with that compromise.
