Smoking is allowed in the casino, and there is one part of the pool deck that is a designated smoking area.
Not sure about the smaller boats but on Oasis class they split the casino in half so that there's a smoking side and a non-smoking side. As is the case with any open room that's "divided" into smoking and non-smoking sections, there is some cigarette smell that drifts over to the NS side, but it isn't very strong. I actually found the ventilation on Harmony to be impressive in that respect. If you can't handle cigarette smell at all it might still be too much for you though.
I was impressed on Allure too. My mom insisted the slots were looser on the smoking side, so she played over there. I tried to stay with her, but it was too much for me. I'm asthmatic and was ok on the non-smoking side. We've also been on Jewel of the Seas and I think she also had a non-smoking side. But if I remember right the ventilation wasn't that great.
I've never been able to figure out how one determines that a slot machine is "loose". But I've always been a table games guy, so I suppose I've never put in the work to figure it out.

Yes- one of our friends insisted that the smoking area slots were paying better , too! So, we went with her to the smoking side. While not horrible, there were a lot smokers and I wasn't happy breathing it all in! Our clothes smelled of smoke ! The non smoking side was pretty good. We tended to stay near the entrance- so farther away from the smoking area.
I don't like casinos exactly because smoking is allowed there. I don't know why. Can't it be forbidden like in restaurants? Is it that hard not to smoke for several hours or go out if needed?
