It was only $75.81, but hey, that's more than I had before in the savings acct!

We're getting there, with plenty of time to go!

Just had to share with someone who would understand, DH just rolled his eyes.

Steph

I don't even bother telling DH about the bargains that I find or the cash that I stash away. He's just happy to see the bottom line smaller than he expected. Where's the fun in that?

Congrats on total and keep at it!

you made me start wondering how much was in our jar (started 6 weeks ago)--$77.50!!!
We don't travel until October!

Good job....every little bit helps. I am sure your DH won't be rolling his eyes when the trip arrives and you have the "extra" cash.

Mine is accumulating at the moment but there will be $100-150 in it most likely by the time we go in July. Some people take thier change money to the Disney Store and convert it to Disney Dollars so you can't be tempted to dip into the change jar.

I added a little twist to our change jar. From January until we left on April 1, I'd put all of my winning lottery cards in the change jar. Most of them were only $1 or $2 but a few were $18- $25.

When we left for our trip we had $165 extra to spend.:bounce: :Pinkbounc

I plan to do the same thing for our Christmas trip.::yes::

I have one started. I dump as much as possible. I do need change for the bus each week. But other than that I throw it in the jar. My plan is to roll and cash it in and buy DD. I also have started the day before pay day to take any extra in my checking and transfer it to savings. All that goes to Disney.

I also am taking any extra Money leftover from laundry etc and putting it towards disney.

I love the change jar! I get excited with every little bit that adds up. Last year our change jar was set aside for Disney strictly but this year it is going toward a new truck instead. We dont plan to but for another 2 years so hopefully it will add into a nice down payment.

But each little piece adds up pretty quick. We always break our dollars rather then having exact change. And whatever I save on coupons which is usually $10 a week or so I add that in there. And every rebate gets added in as well. Last year we managed to save $671 for our trip. It was wonderful to just have the extra money.::yes::

Also now that you have counted to see what you have and how painless it was you will be motivated to save more.

My husband and I started a change jar with our DD (will be 3 in June) last August. We thought it would be fun and cute for her to save for Disney. She filled 2! Her Grandparents, and Godparents would give her money, my husband friends thought it was cute and would give her a couple of dollars. If she found a penny it went right in her pig! We decided to see how much she had so far and change it in for Disney $s. That little suirt has over $400.00!!:earseek: I couldn't believe it. I am going to be borrowing money from my 2 year old lol!

I started saving $1.00 bills since October.I now have $640.00,plus $50.00 in Disney dollars.By the time we go in December,I hope to at least double this amount.

Saving dollars are great because I'm not tempted to go into the container and pull out $100.00 single bills to buy something with.
Every week,I get $10.00 at the bank and then save my singles all throughout the week. It's amazing how fast the add up!!!::MinnieMo ::MinnieMo ::MinnieMo

Since we booked our airfare back in the fall, I have been putting loose change in the change jar. I told my 6yo dd that whatever is in the jar a week before we go to Disney would be her spending money. She put all her Easter money and every single coin from my wallet in there and Wednesday night we did a preliminary count. That 6 yo has $160!

I think I'm going to go to AAA and get a visa gift card with the money loaded on. This way mom and dad won't be able to "dip" into it (not that parents ever do- and always put it back!).

Here we are only 13 days to go and she's more excited than ever.

And yesterday I got some Crap together for a yard sale, Alot of Kids clothing I wound up making 180 dollars.. Woo Hoo. Into the Disney Pot.. DH was impressed..

I can't wait for our big Snyders Pretzel jug to be filled up so we can count it! Dh used a hot glue gun to seal the cover onto it and made a slot in the cover so we wouldn't be tempted to dip into it!! As soon as it's filled and counted, the proceeds will hopefully pay for 2 of the 5 Disney passes!

Keep saving that change!! It adds up quickly!:bounce:

Great job, keep it up. I have about $170 saved so far change/dollars and $32 on the Visa card.

I save dollar bills too, plus $100 in twenties every month. Since we usually go during the Food & Wine Festival, those singles come in really handy (most samples are a couple of bucks).

Before you spend time rolling all that change, call your bank and see if they will take it rolled or if they want it loose. I spent A LOT of time rolling up all our change, brought it to my bank and they said they do not take rolled money. They have a counting machine instead. So I had to sit there and UN roll it all. I was about to cry. But the thought of all this "free" money kept me happy. My bank does not charge a fee to count the change.

Maggie

My bank doesn't charge to count it either, as long as you have an account with them. I was just having it deposited into my savings account for the trip, so it was no problem. Took it in my Mickey jar!

I love doing this tip! We've been saving for about 10 months and have $665.50 with a couple more months 'til our cruise! But, I must confess, mom gave DH and I $100 in rolled coins for our birthdays which are just a couple weeks apart!

My DF which is going on the cruise with us is saving as well and she has almost $300! We've had the best time picking up pennies found on the ground! Hey, we're not too good! ;)

She and I and a couple other friends are going in a couple of years for an all girls trip to DW. I plan to start saving after our DC and try to pay in full for my next trip to the World with saved change!.
