My DH and I are taking cash with us on our trip and I was wondering, can we put it on our room key prior to purchases? Or do we have to purchase and then pay at check out? I really don't want to carry around cash and I don't want to risk losing our check card for our bank account! Can anyone tell me the best way to do this! Thanks!!!!

We keep 95+% of our cash, credit cards, ID and etc in the in-room safe. We "charge" everything that we can to our room. (Note: The small kiosks with food and etc don't always allow you to charge to your room.) I go to the front desk every few days and ask for a copy of our folio I then compare my receipts to the folio (it's always been 100% correct). We then pay when we check-out. I am sure that you can make payments at the front desk during the course of your stay.

When we have stayed at the Poly, our credit limit was 1500.00. When I came close, I just went to the front desk and paid it so I could keep charging. Nothing like eating and paying the bill and it being rejected, (yes it happend to us) I could have crawled under the table.

you can charge it to your room key then pay for it afterwards with cash.

What we did this last September trip is we got WDW gift cards. The gift cards come in $5-$1000 and is reloadable. You can find them at the resort gift stores, park stores, DTD world of Disney. I like it better than room charging because I can limit what you put on it, say you put $100 each day and you immediately know how much money you have left and how much money you've spent. I don't have to wait to check my room statements or fix mistakes later on.

So how do you go about reloading the card?

This may sound like a silly question but....can you pay your bill at the front desk with a credit card? :flower:

Flyerfan that's not a silly question. When you checkin they will ask if you want charging priviledges on your room key. If you do, give them a credit card then and you can get express checkout. You don't have to go back to the desk to check out they will put a printout of your charges on your room door the morning you are leaving. To the OP rather than bring cash which can be lost or stolen, leave the cash is your bank use your charge then pay the bill off with the cash when you get home.

We gave the desk at POP about $600 to put on our room key, and then we kept another couple hundred on us in cash or in the room safe. Then we just charged things to our room and I kept a tally kind of like a checkbook with me to keep track of what we spent and how much was left on our room account (you can also get a print out from the desk, but I tend to be anal :rotfl: ) Then, when we checked out, they gave us back what we didn't spend (not that there was much of it ;) ) You can always add to it if you start to get low. I wasn't comfortable with the debit card/ credit card thing either because if there was a mistake made it would've been more detrimental than with having a cash account. Keep your receipts too!! Just in case.

If they say you can't give cash, ask someone else later. The first person at POP we asked said you can't use cash on your room account (even though we knew we could.) We asked someone else later and they set it up for us.

Do the Value resorts the ASmo in particular have an in-room safe?

Hiya! We just got back today and did the cash on the room card thing. We gave $600.00 when we checked in and used the room card like a debit card almost everywhere. There are a few small kiosks that don't take it. We also had a bit of cash that we carried around. Left the rest in the room safe. We stayed at All Star Movies.
