Cash vs. Points for ressie

I have a question for all you fellow DVCers. We are looking at staying at a DVC resort (not sure which one yet) possibly in April or May and I was wondering if this the following was possible.

Is it possible to use points for Thursday, cash for Friday & Saturday, and then points from Sunday to Friday? How would I even go about doing this? Would I have to switch room or can the ressie be linked together so I wouldn't have to switch?

If you get the reservation via MS there should be no problem linking the reservatio, But if you go thru CRO, you will have to check out and check back in again. And you may have to move. The discount might not be available and they might not have rooms available.

Are you currently a DVC member?

If so, have you thought about renting points from another DVC member? They could transfer them into your account & then you could use them as if they are your own.

I don't know what your cash cost would be compared to a point value cost, but if points are going for an average of $10 per point (do they still rent for that? - I don't even know) it may be more cost effective to do it that way.

I am a DVC member and it would actually be cheaper for me to use cash then buy points from another member. That's why I was wondering if it was possible to do what I thought I could do. Are rooms for cash always available?

No, cash rooms are not always available. MS only offers them if it is determined that not all of the rooms in the member inventory will be reserved using points. Cash rooms are available more often for Friday and Saturday nights than they are for the weeknights.

Forgot to say that some rooms are not offered for cash, if I remember right. Like the BW view, dedicated two bedrooms eith two queens in the second bedroom (BCV, VWL).
